2012 album from the Chicago-based singer/songwriter of children's music. Known more for his Beatle-flavored powerpop tunes for older kids, Justin Roberts brings the energy level down a bit for Lullaby. Roberts didn't leave behind his gift for nifty composition, though: Lullaby is full of melodic nods to Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, James Taylor, and Carole King. With Lullaby Justin Roberts stuck to his creative guns in that the album sounds like a Justin Roberts CD, although his typical powerpop chord changes have been toned down and ringing guitars are nowhere to be heard.

Wonderful Justin Roberts CD for the youngest listeners (and older ones, too)
Being huge Justin Roberts fans, my family and I eagerly awaited the release of this latest CD. Anxiously, even. And we weren't disappointed! We've been listening to it frequently since its release and love it. For those acquainted with Justin's music, I'll say that this CD is intentionally slower, softer and generally mellower than his other albums (which I also heartily endorse). From the warm cello and other symphonic instruments to the gentle, sleepytime lyrics, it's a peaceful and sweet album from start to finish. My family's favorites are "Count Them As They Go," "Nothing on You," and "All For You." My 10-year-old, who has listened to Justin's CDs since she was 3, doesn't care for "Polar Bear" only because as a burgeoning tween she doesn't think anyone really wants to be a polar bear. As a 43-year-old, I tend to disagree with her, but she can figure these things out on her own in time. Honestly, I think "Nothing On You" is as easily listened to as a love song as a calming lullaby. Don't forget to read the liner notes if you want to pick up on the poetry of the words.Bottom line: if you're looking for a mellow children's CD for very young ears (think, baby shower gift or baby's first or second birthday), look no further. If your kids are older and ready for CDs with a mix of slow and fast tunes, humor and insight that appeals to all ages, clever lyrics and masterful musicianship/production, also add any of the other Justin Roberts CDs to your cart before you check out. I readily admit to listening to JR in the car when the kids aren't with me. True story.

Good quality music for my little one
Whenever my 1 year granddaughter goes down for her nap I put this on in the nursery. It is soothing, yet provides some background noise so that I can move around my home without disturbing her while she sleeps. I will be looking at more Justin Roberts music. Good quality music for my little one!!

The kids love it for its melodies
This album is sheer perfection. The kids love it for its melodies, messages of love (giving and receiving), wonderful imagery, and soothing sounds. The adults (ahem) in the family love it for its nods to James Taylor, Van Morrison, bossa nova, and 70s soft rock as well as Justin's usual sense of humor. If you have a child suffering from lack of self-esteem or some other anxieties, the powerful messages in this CD will help with healing and building confidence.

Different type of children's music
the kind anyone could and WOULD listen to. I've really enjoyed the soft ballads and the fun tunes. So far my 18 month old triplets like it and I think it's an album that's going to be heard a lot.

Another great one!
Lullaby is another listen-through-it-all Justin Roberts album that will become a staple in the kid's music rotation! Justin's voice is suited perfectly for these types of songs, and his masterful songwriting shines in these quiet bedtime tunes. Well done!
