HEXBUG Mouse Robotic Cat Toy (GREY) for all breed sizes

I am disappointed in this. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because one of my cats wanted to love it. The problem is that it didn't work. I pushed the button to turn it on, and it started...but then it stopped and didn't continue. I put in new batteries. Same result. I know it's supposed to start and stop, but it's supposed to restart, and also it's supposed to respond by starting when the cat plays with it. Neither of those two things happened. To get it to start again, I had to pick it up and push the button again. Over and over. The whole point of this was to give the cats something that might occupy them for a bit without human interaction. They are bored inside due to winter weather, and while my husband and I work at home, we are super busy and can't drop everything and play every time a kitty asks us for attention! So, I am extra disappointed given my cat's initial excitement about this, and the subsequent let down.UPDATE: I contacted Hexbug with my issues. They responded immediately, and after an email conversation, they sent me a replacement for free. This one works exactly as described. I just wish it had a remote control we could use to call it out of hiding when the cats leave it hidden somewhere. I'm contemplating ordering more, provided the batteries don't run out too quickly.

Mouse is now her favorite toy. Like that it has automatic randomized movements and stops then starts again just when I think I need to restart it. This is a toy she can play with independently. I do wish it also had remote control that I could use when it outruns her and disappears under baseboard heater ...which is mostly behind furniture lol. I like that it is larger than nano Hexbugs. She loves those, too, but that is because she isn't the one pulling out appliances, moving tables sofas etc to get to baseboard heater or digging it out from behind shelving unit! Those nano bugs and I are at war. This mouse is easier for me lol. Mouse tail seems to add to her interest.I have begun having difficulty restarting it . It will vibrate as if restarting when I push button but often quit before I can even put it down. Other times it works no problem. Same with restarting randomly after it stops. Sometimes it dashes off when she paws it, but just as (more) often I have to restart it. I only today noticed that the right side of button has "1" and left has "0" which I assume is on and off . Now I am being careful which side of button I push to restart, but I think perhaps the battery is losing strength. Too bad I misplaced the 20 pack of batteries. Kitty will have to wait for new order to arrive.I was horrified when I tried to order a second mouse for backup but only found it for over $30! Was so relieved today to discover Hexbug had it in stock again ($9.99) so I ordered one.I have not had the toy a month yet.

Summary: Tail comes off easily, does not run on carpet, and the battery is finicky at best. Other than a few quirks, it does as promised, and keeps the kitten/cat's attention for a bit. YMMV, depending on your uses...Only 1 or 2 toys have actually been able to keep my kitten's attention, and this is one of them.Battery problems...What I would end up doing, is leaving it in the bathroom, where it can run around. When it turns off, it turns off, and I leave it there without messing with it. It's like the battery only lasts for so long and recharges itself, oddly enough. I can turn it on again, several days later, and it works just like it did with new batteries. But for whatever reason, the batteries don't seem to respond well to activity over more than 20-30 minutes. My cat did not enjoy playing with it as much, after about 20-30 minutes anyways, so it kind of loses its edge in this sense, along with the battery charge. I bought the pack of batteries that is recommended to go with this toy as well, and I burned through 4 pairs in less than 2 weeks after I got the mouse toy. When I found out about the waiting for a day or so for it to charge, the cat has mostly lost interest in regular use anyways. The media could not be loaded.  very cute little mouse that your kittens will find first scary then enough interesting to attack :D It is good to distract your kitty. only thing is it goes only in circles if not hitting somewhere to change its way. I think it is worth to buy toy for your little friend !

most toys I found were those cheap ones that you simply draw back. Cats are smart animals that figured out pretty fast that they were predictable. This little one runs around in different patterns, stops, and goes, like a realistic mouse would do! Sturdy, nice material, not cheap or falling apart. Recommend it!

The media could not be loaded.  The Mouse is running like crazy everywhere, when it bumps against something it changes directions. It works only on hard floors, so carpet is a no go. But most importantly: my cats are loving it - never seen them go crazy about a toy like this. Hope it survives a long time. Only downsides are that the battery was empty very quickly (most likely because of longer storage) and that is a bit stiff, so when my cats try to catch it with their mouth, they have a hard time lifting it up. And not sure about the plastic parts, hope they don't come off, could be a hazard. But overall, great toy.Das beste Spielzeug bisher, zumindest was meine Katzen betrifft... Noch nie gesehen dass sie so verrückt einem Spielzeug hinterher rennen. Funktioniert super auf Hartböden und wechselt bei Kollision die Richtung. Auf Teppichboden jedoch nicht verwendbar und schade ist, das die Maus Recht hart ist, somit können meine beiden das Spielzeug nur schwer mit Mund greifen. Was die Haltbarkeit angeht kann ich noch keine Aussage treffen, allerdings waren die mitgelieferten Batterien nach 10 Minuten leer. Also am besten gleich ein Paket LR44 Batterien mitbestellen. Ein eventueller Negativpunkt könnten die Hartplastik Ohren und der Schwanz sein, da bei Ablösen eventuell ein Verschluck-Risiko besteht.Bisher halten Sie aber gut und das Spielzeug ist für die Katzen ein Highlight.Achso es gibt zwei Modi. Einmal mit unregelmäßigen Stops alle paar Sekunden und einen der durchgehend läuft.

An amazing addition to our fur babies toy collection.My favorite reaction was when she walked passed the toy as it was in motion and she pretended not to look at it and then she kicked it with her back foot to start the motion again. It was hilarious !Excellent customer service as well.
