From what I’ve read, yes, the radiation will be directing toward you when the flap is open. However, if you remember from high school science, radiation quickly weakens abs distance increases. That means that unless your face is right up against the screen you are not receiving damaging rays. The manufacturer states that 6-8” is a safe distance which is probably more than plenty. My phone is usually 12-18” away when I’m browsing, etc. It’s also cumulative damage, so occasional amounts are not really a problem.

When I close it and talk, I’m not closing it all the way. You can also put it on speaker and hold it further away.
