My hens really loved this box. It is much roomier than it appears on-line. I like how the perch could flip up to keep those birds who like to sleep and poop in the nest box out at night. However, the part I liked is also the part that has caused my hens some issues. Some of my clutsy hens will inadvertantly knock the perch up when trying to fly up and then it locks into place. My husband duck taped them open so it won't happen anymore but I wish they locked in place as a perch as well as they lock closed.

In theory, these next boxes are great. Or so I thought. My hens have been happily laying eggs in them for 9 months. Then this morning, a tragedy occurred. I noticed one of my hens dangling by her foot from the nest box. Whether she was coming or going from the box, her foot had gotten trapped in the hole of the black perch bar. Poor thing must have been there for awhile and either expired from stress or exhaustion from trying to free herself. I'm only writing this review to prevent such a tragedy for another. Perhaps the manufacturer will consider redesigning the perch bar so that chickens' feet can not fall through and became stuck. Or perhaps future customers will think of altering this particular part of the design themselves after reading this review.

The back end is open. I understand that u nail them to a walk but mine are free standing on a table under cover. Had to cut up cardboard and tape to back. Maybe a piece that would come with nester would be a great iidea. Chic love the nester in the summer. Outside sunshade and cooler than in coop. This is my second nester and both are a go to for my 6chix

Picked up two of these. Excellent quality, feels rugged, but not too rigid. What is really nice is stable little roost area for the hen to land on before entering the nest. This also has the added benefit of being able to swing up and lock into place blocking access to the nest if desired. Will buy more as needed.Note to Seller/Packer: These stack inside one another and could have been sent in a much smaller box then having them in the box side-by-side. Save yourself a little money and package them stacked.

Love these boxes, so do my chickens. Easy to install, easy to clean. One advice for manufacturers, the little roost needs to have some kind of lock. It's very easy for chickens to lock themselves inside, when the roost flips up.

Ordered two, my hens love them. As described in other reviews, the hens do accidentally flip the perch up every now and then, maybe once a month, but with the overall quality I would buy again.

Quite large, fits one hen. Suitable for the job
