Love these, but it won’t last forever - does anything though?
I love these. It eventually gets dull or the wire pops off but honestly they last a long enough time! I’m talking years! So I never mind replacing it as all good things wear out! And these are way less expensive than shoes! Lol. I like that its compact, fits in silverware drawer easily. I love that it slices at two different thicknesses. I like that its easy to handle and no sharp blade. I love that they last a long time ( I use 1-2x per month). It’d be a great stocking stuffer. 😀

Easily slice the perfect piece
We have bought this many times before and really like it. The only problem I have is that it breaks fairly easy. But we only slice the hard cheddar cheese with this so maybe if you slice a softer cheese it will last longer. Even though it does break on us more than I'd like (we go through about 1 a year), I still love it & will continue to buy it as long as I can find it because it's probably one of the easiest to use that I've found and it's so simple to clean. The best part is there's no adjusting anything so you don't have to worry about things slipping out of place while you're slicing and every piece comes out the same size, perfectly sliced😊

Nice idea but won't hold up.
Big cheese eater. Like to buy Costco bulk cheese and slice my own. I like the two thickness choices. Sadly, the design is weak. I've had three. They last only a few months before the wire breaks with no replacement possible. I've switched to an Ikea cheese knife that takes more attention but won't break every. I find these wire types pretty useless overall.

Best Buy!
Recently purchased a fancy European version for $30, found other stainless steel versions for less, but sill expensive. This works well, lasts (10th cheese blocks so far), washes in the DW. I like the cheese slices this delivers, though slightly thicker than the more expensive models. One of those I purchased lasted one block of cheese. Great value, if you like to cut yours with a wire, but more than one.

I bought it in 2013.
It finally broke. I only used it on soft, semi-soft and medium density cheeses. (I used a Cuisinart cheese knife for hard cheeses). But 10 years is a pretty good length of time for a cheese slicer.

The best breakable cheese slicer
This is by far the best cheese slicer I've ever used. Easy & simple. Even my 6 year old uses it and makes perfect cheese slices. The slices are uniform and thin (roughly 1/16") or thick (roughly 1/10"). I can use it on a block of cheddar right out of the fridge without issue. Except one. The thing breaks in half after about 2-3 months of use (we slice cheese with it about every other day). It's a poor design around the rivet that tensions the wire in the middle of the plastic part. Not enough plastic for the weakest point. I'd gladly pay MORE if this slicer was made out of a more robust material. As it is, you should buy 2-3 at a time. Even worse, it's a stupid "adder item", so you can't buy them in bulk by themselves and have to tag it to some other purchase. Ranked 3 stars because of the slicer's performance is 5 stars, but the lack of being robust and being forced to buy as an adder brings the ranking down.

AMAZING A YEAR LATER
We have been using this cheese slicer, the bakertowne thick and thin, for over a year now. We have not had to open the second one we bought. It is still in good shape and works great. All it takes is care. Wash gently by hand. It takes 20 seconds to wash and even dry. 30 at most.It slices nicely and stores nicely. This is the best cheese slicer we have ever used!!!The price is perfect, the shipping super especially as an add on, the cheese slices come out perfect! We slice even hard cheeses like Gruyer! We store in drawer where it will not get tangled with other cutlery etc to protect the thin wires gfrom damage. Very easy to clean by hand! We don't have dish washer!Bought 2 because of some reviews here, but it will be long!!! Time before we open second package if ever.Since my husband likes different cheese than the one I eat, we each use one side, as it has two slicing wires. Though they are for thick and thin, with hand controls we can slice even thin slices with thick side very easily!Great and Fun product! We highly recommend it!

Thick or Thin...Can't be beat
In our family, we go through around 2 to 3 two pound blocks of cheddar cheese every week. We were braking typical wire cheese cutters every month or so. I get frustrated paying retail price for cheese slicers at the grocery store because we broke another one. THey just never seemed to last, the wire would stretch, the cheese tears out at the bottom of the cut, etc...Stumbled across the Thick & Thin Cheese slicer on Amazon and ordered 2 of them, figuring why not give this a shot. These things work amazingly well. What really surprised me was how well the thin slice side worked on a hard block of cheddar with perfect amazingly thin slices of cheese. THe thick side works just as well.I have found that slicing is probably better accomplished by using 2 hands; one holding the handle and the other applying slight pressure to the other end. As far as we're concerned we will never be buying a different type of slicer again.I honestly have no clue how long it will hold up, but I don't get the feeling that it will break anytime soon. It's tough plastic and is just well made for what it is. And at the price that they are, I don't really care. I plan to order another half dozen, so we can have one in the camping gear, the boating, gear, the picnic basket, etc... These things really, really work well.
