Fair product
I've suffered from insomnia for years and was desperate to improve my sleeping environment in attempts to get some quality shut eye. After reading reviews on wool mattress pads vs down I was convinced that wool was the way to go so I went ahead and purchased from SnugFleece since it was highly rated on a sleeping website.I wanted to love the product but was disappointed. I will say that it has made my bed slightly more comfortable but it definitely did not meet the high expectations that I had set based on reading other's reviews. It was not worth the high cost. It would have been wiser to allot the $200+ towards a new mattress. I decided to keep the mattress pad because it did make my bed a little more comfy and I didn't want to go through the hassel of returning it. I also ended up buying some high quality firm, down pillows which have really helped my sleep. I'm wondering if a down mattress pad would be better for me given the successful outcome of the down pillows.

Foul smell after initial wash
Upon receipt, I immediately washed the pad (delicate cycle without detergent) to see how maintainable it is and also for sanitary reasons. The pad started to smell like an animal farm. I contacted the manufacturer and they said that I should air-dry and the smell will go away. Nothing helped and the smell stayed. My guess is that the wool was treated by the manufacturer against the smell and the treatment came off during washing. The manufacturer was surprised that I even washed the pad. However, this pad is supposed to be washable. I returned the pad for full refund but in the future would be very careful with wool pads.On the positive side, the pad is very nice, thick and well-made. It is unfortunate I had to return it, but I glad I washed it immediately and not later on when returns would be impossible.

Welcome find as part of a new sleeping system for a hot natured, overweight older woman
I'm overweight and sleep hot and, after much research, am updating my mattress to the best I can get for under $1500 in total. This pad is part of the update. This pad really exceeded my expectations. I looked on line and on this site at reviews for months before I bit the bullet and paid this price for a mattress pad - this price on Amazon meets or beats all the other sellers I looked at. I do have a high count cotton sheet over it as suggested.1. My research led me to believe that wool was my best bet to help regulate my temperature while sleeping. I do still get warm from time to time but not like I was; waking up hot and sweating. It's not a miracle cure but I'm definitely sleeping better according to me and my sleep tracker.2. This pad is very comfortable, I love the way it feels under my body. The wool is soft and springy and this higher lift was probably a good idea for me as I'm 100 lbs overweight. I do have a 3 inch medical foam topper over my very hard, uncomfortable Serta gel mattress :( and this pad has helped. I just bought a Leggett and Platt pocket coil spring system mattress with a 3 inch latex topper and wool zip cover that's provided for fire protection (this combo is the most recommended on average from all the articles and forums I've read for hot natured, overweight people) for $1k from Arizona Premium (company is recommended on mattress underground and I talked to the owner when I bought the mattress to ensure I got the right firmness of latex) and this pad is going on top. I'll update my review once I have everything together.Update 4/19/16 I've been sleeping on my new Arizona Premium Hybrid innerspring talalay latex (medium firmness) mattress with the SnugSoft Elite Bed mattress cover mattress pad, wool pillow, Belgian flax or 100% cotton sheets (higher thread count won't breathe as well 300 is plenty) and a chenille cotton blanket (no polyester, acrylic, nylon, etc. - doesn't breath well) for 1 week. I have not gotten hot at night and am having much better sleep. The innerspring mattress allows for air as well as support under the 3 in. latex and the wool pad has definitely helped me with temperature. The bed is a medium firmness not cushy even with the pad but the pad is soft and luxurious feeling under my body and I'm not waking up with my leg numb anymore. Note: to be fair, I was told that the mattress might take a some weeks to break in but even if it doesn't get any softer, I'm fine with it. My 2 major problems are solved, i.e. heat and my leg/upper thigh going numb from pressure point, and I believe it was combination of mattress and this wool pad. The pad does cover my queen mattress and the elastic straps on the corners hold it in place without any noticeable movement.

Seriously Disappointed
I’m so disappointed that I missed my return window for this product. I initially felt some relief but it was short lived. Once the wool gets flattened down, the benefits are lost. I’ve tried washing and fluffing the wool various ways but to no avail. There has to be a better product with a stronger guarantee at a similar price point. The company that made this clearly knows the produce doesn’t hold up or it would have a better return policy.

This is a Keeper
I wondered why our American beds, even my expensive (motion) Tempurpedic, weren't as comfortable as some of the beds I slept in in New Zealand and Iceland. Each of these countries produces lots of sheep. I searched a New Zealand website, where I found sheep wool mattress pads. Before I purchased, I read up to learn more about wool in general. Moreno wool pads cost about $200 more, as Moreno wool is finer and therefore less itchy. But since a sheet is placed on top of the pad, the wool is not next to your skin, thus no itching problem. I drove to Oakville, WA to look at a competitor's product. Unfortunately theirs had no straps or skirt to keep it attached to my mattress which sits on a platform that moves the headrest and leg part. After reading all the specs and customer reviews on the Amazon website for these products, with my prime intent to gain additional comfort, I placed importance on maximum loft and wool quantity without sacrificing washability. Thus I decided on the "Snugfleece Elite", which the seller calls "Snugsoft Elite". No import duties or expensive shipping, because this product is made from American Virgin Wool in the USA. The product price was considerably less than the one from New Zealand. The seller sent it promptly from Pocatello, ID. I slept on this pad for about a month now, and have not encountered any problems to date. My sleep and comfort has definately improved, and I recommend this pad to others. It would make an especially great gift for anyone who, by reason of illness, has to spend a lot of time in a bed.
