Simple to use but the first time I removed the bushing and reinstalled it cut the o-ring that hold the bushing in place.

The bit, and wood, smoked instantly. The bushing was fine, despite other reviews.

The inlay kit works perfect. Mild sanding is all that's necessary. My suggestion is to buy the patterns with it. If not you may have a time finding patterns only, or make your own with 1/4" material.In short, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I received my kit yesterday and tried to test it last night. I have found several problems with it already. I found that it is just a fraction too large to fit the Bosch RA1100 adapter I use with my routers. (The RA1100 allows Bosch routers to use standard Porter-Cable style bushings, which it otherwise does well, so it should fit.) I also found that the alignment pin is useless as it does not fit into the bushing. Again, it's just a hair too large. I also noticed that the rubber O-ring that retains the removable bushing gets pinched and tears a little bit each time it is removed and replaced. So it is beginning to self destruct already. Considering that this is an accessory designed to do a precise operation, the quality is quite poor. (Note: it's made in China.) In my opinion, this is not a good quality tool. My recommendation is to find a more accurately made set. It'll save you a lot of headaches.

This bushing is machined undersized and fits router base plates very sloppy. The bushing can move within the base plate recess while routing resulting in undersized inlays and recesses. Checked the fit against 3 different routers in the shop, all had the same problem and other guide bushings all fit properly. Not worth the money spent; returned and ordered a Whiteside 9500 inlay kit.

snap on bushing is too small resulting in a over sized inlay that can not be corrected, leaves a gap. as others have said, poor quality. buy the more expensive White side bit and you wont be disappointed.

Shop Fox D3118 Inlay Kit I was concerned about how well the bushing would hold being friction fit but it has not been a problem at all holds in place.The fit and finish is very good and the build is quality is tight, feels sturdy and heavy and doesn't seem to be cheaply made.The template guide threads on easily with out sticking but doesn't come loose in use.It comes with a centering pin witch is very handy and the spiral cutter is solid carbide and cuts fast and leaves a smooth finish.I can recommend this Shop Fox D3118 Inlay Kit Shop Fox D3118 Inlay Kit

Precise brass machining. The brass inlay bushing has a groove machined into the template nose that incorporates a rubber grommet to hold the bushing snugly in place during routing operations. The pin is a precise fit for centering the template to the router. The cutter is solid carbide and is a precise fit as well. Excellent product. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed with this product.

Looks like it will work

The brass flute that extends beneath the template base to hold the bushing sheared off immediately, in the first ten minutes of use, while cutting test pieces in pine. The brass threaded ring that hold the template bit from above the router base does not stay tight, and the threads were burred and useless after finger tightening and using once. The bit burns out quickly as well, and doesn't hold its edge. Very cheap, poor construction. I got the same type template from lee valley for less money and it is indestructible. Save yourself money and time and order the inlay kits from lee valley, along with a decent bit. Terrible product.

Easy to set up and use. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a good fit between the patch and the hole on any of my practice pieces. I requested a replacement in hopes it was a flaw in the product. The second one produced a closer but still unsatisfactory fit. I'm unsure if it is a reflection of the quality of the product or not.
