Replaced some very old and hard original Shimano inserts with these. The Kool Stop inserts got used a lot during our mountain biking trip and they worked flawlessly.

Stops the bike, squeals without careful adjustment.
I've only ever tried Kool Stop and stock brake pads. Like all other Kool Stop pads, these have major stopping power... but they're also a pain to adjust just right to prevent squeal. That's bike brakes for ya.

Very high quality pads but be aware they will not fit Kool Stop Tectonic brake holder.
