Celestion Seventy 80 Guitar Speaker, 8 Ohm

Great value

Worked as I expected. Good speaker for the money. I bought it to put in an ISO cab to match up with my Blackstar Club 40 Amp. It's the same speaker as is inside.It's an import speaker but does the job and for the money you can't go wrong for classic rock, jazz and country.

I have that speaker in a 15 Watt combo amp and I cant believe how loud it is. Being a 12" speaker it really projects itself well. Seems to be pretty well balanced and I can play some really sweet solos below the 12 fret without being "ice pick" sounding. Really gives good tones with the volume crank up, but with a overdrive, boost or distortion pedal about 3 or 4 on the volume knob is all you want. I run my volume on overdrive at noon. I am very pleased with it in a cheap amp! I have a higher end 50 watt tube with a 4x10 cab and I think this speaker sounds better than the cab!

If you want a less expensive, slightly less hissy, lighter weight version of a T-75, this is it, and it is one of the more underrated Celestions. I love the way these pair with an amp like a Dual Rectifier-- it gives it more attack while simultaneously coming off a little darker than other speakers.

My halfstack sounds tight with these matched with Celestion cream 75s . The weight of each speaker is light which makes my half stack not so heavy. I play ESP ECLIPSE through Engl Savage120 watt head and I can get all kinds of killer tones easily.

The best thing about this is how much better it sounds after you take these out and replace with a greenback or creamback,
