This thing is great. Not only does it give you additional storage space, but every game that is installed on the hard drive boots up faster, has less time between loading screens, and puts less stress on the console! It’s a little pricy, but worth every penny. My Xbox one used to kick on the fans constantly and overheat and crash when playing fallout or elder scrolls with mods. But now when I’m running them off the ssd, my console is whisper quiet, the game runs smoother, and it hasn’t crashed mid game on me yet! Definitely worth the investment.

It does what it says and set up quickly for Xbox. I am using this for games I play frequently for the faster load times. PUBG loads in games near instant and actually seems smoother all around. I only wish the cable was a little longer, it is barely able to sit on top of the Xbox.

It doesn't let you play games off of it only let's you store them so might as well just buy the 150 dollar one this was just a big waste of money

This is my initial review for the WD 500GB Gaming Drive for Xbox One, and I'll continue updating it as I use it.Packaging:This WD 500GB Gaming Drive Accelerated for Xbox One, was packed in a good, cardboard box with a print that is very descriptive, all I needed to know was found easily all around the box in such a neat and organized design. The packaging was eye catching specially that they have designed with XBOX theme in mind and had every detail printed one the box about this SSD, it was very easy to open. Everything was well packaged, no Styrofoam or clam-shell plastic to fight with, which is always a plus. It arrived in perfect condition.In the box:inside the box you're gonna find warranty information and a product guide and The SSDBuild Quality (Rating 5/5):It doesn't feel cheap, it feels very expensive and premium, The body is made from what it seems a very durable high quality plastic, with white body and black rubber all around.Design (Rating 4/5):It has a nice visually appealing black on white with rubber edges and Xbox like design with one USB A cable tucked under it.My Review:This is a portable SSD Drive that is leaning towards gaming but you can just use it anywhere like a regular portable SSD with laptops or even with PS4 not just XBOX exclusive.I'm in love with this SSD, it is so tiny, and I love that it has the usb cable tucked inside of it, no more wondering around your bag looking for that annoying usb cable. I usually play heavy games, like call of duty, red dead redemption 2 etc.. So I always require a fast and reliable SSD to load faster the game with me and cut through those annoying long loading screen time, and I honestly was blown away by the form factor and the speed of this drive.This is by far one of the toughest Western Digital 500GB Gaming Drive, I've had to date, it's drop resistance thanks to its shock absorbing rubber edges and no moving parts unlike traditional hard disks, helps keep the content safe from bumps and shakes and with an SSD drive, it's up to triple as fast as most portable hard drives, delivers speeds up to 412MB/s read and 225MB/s write. I tested it on Macbook Pro 15' 2019 through the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro's USB 3.1 port, with Disk Speed Test from "Blackmagicdesign".You can also use it with mac and pc too, as it comes formatted ExFAT for compatibility with PC and Mac out of the box, also it comes with WD Discovery Software which helps you get the most out of this SSD, like setting a backup plan with WD Backup or importing content from popular social media and cloud storage platforms.Tip: If you intend to use it as a backup drive with MAC's time machine, you'll need to reformat it to HFS+J, but it will remove compatibility with windows, and in case you lost the WD Discovery installation file, you can re download it again from support.wd.comThe 2 major things I don't like, first is that if the cable died or something happened to it, it can't be replaced and the second thing is the capacity, now a days most games releases are 100+ GB, Call of duty modern warfare was 128GB and Red dead redemption is 175 GB, so it would probably take 3-5 games of AAA games, But other than that, it's great for travel and every day use, I highly recommend it, for about $99, it's an good deal.The Good:- Beautiful Xbox colors and design.- Strong build quality.- Very good shock proof rubber ridges.- Super fast.- Very good price.- Very gift able.- Very lightweight.The Bad:- Very short cable- Cable built in, can't be replaced.- Sometimes it throttles.- Low capacity, for game sizes nowadays.Conclusion:Amazing build and very fast reading and writing speeds, for the price I highly recommend it, it's built very well, and feels premium, it's perfect for XBOX and even as a regular SSD.Thanks for taking the time to read this review. This seems to be a fairly decent SSD portable hard drive. The built in cable will be loved or hated - both points of view are legit. It turns out that the size of the drive is basically the same width and length of a Raspberry Pi case. I like to do a lot of experiments with Pis and having the extra storage space will play well to that. I velcro’d the drive directly to the top of the case and it only adds about ¾” of bulk.The new Raspberry Pi 4 with its upgraded USB ports should be able to take advantage of the speeds this drive can offer. When I’m finished experimenting with it, I can always take the drive on the road or use it for movies with my portable projector.

I ordered this WD 500GB SSD external gaming drive for my son, who is an avid gamer. His platform of choice is PS4. Even though this drive is marked to Xbox One, it also works with PS4 just as well. Or, you could use it just to back up your computer files. It's a very small SSD that easily fits in the palm of my hand. This external drive is durable enough that I think it will survive some drops, which are bound to eventually happen. SSD isn't nearly as susceptible to shock as the old spinning drives. The outer case is sturdy. It feels and looks like a high quality durable plastic, and has black rubber around it.A USB cable is attached to the drive, and tucks right inside of it. Although that prevents the cable from being misplaced, it makes me a little nervous. If the cable were to get damaged in some way, it's not going to be an easy fix.My son said that his game load times improved a lot with this device. This also comes in a 1TB version, which is double the capacity. Depending on your game collection, that might be a better choice.

The gamer in the family moved his Witcher III from his 4TB Seagate drive to this 500GB speed drive & found no discernible difference in load times while fast traveling / after dying.For anyone that has or is planning to accumulate a robust game library, 500GB is simply not enough space.The design is decent with a space saving overall size & the integrated cable makes portability easy.While starting out, it’s fine, but this capacity will use up its usefulness rather quickly & is not the most cost-efficient decision!

This does work well and is very small and light. Game load times are faster. The cord could be a tiny bit longer so it sits on the XBox, but not a big deal.

Loads games faster on my Xbox One X, no more textures loading in late on bigger games. I do advise those buying this to install larger games like Cold War on this. Quicker loading times too. Only gripe is the short cable. *Amended: keeps disconnecting from console, probably a faulty cable.
