20" Rack Mountable Sliding Shelf

Well Made & Sturdy Once Fixed to Back Rails
I really like this AV rack shelf/drawer, which I got for a turntable, making vinyl so much easier to enjoy! The ball bearing slides are quite smooth. Once fixed to the rack at back (yes, this shelf must be fixed at back), it is quite sturdy. The rails at the back of the shelf had to be modified to fit my rack because my Peerless AV rack rails are in line at the back, as in NOT perpendicular like in the front. So I used Wiss Hand Seamer to flatten the right angle of the drawer back rails. Although I didn’t get it perfect, it worked well enough for me once I found bolts that fit the drawer back rails and my AV Rack rails. Once done, the drawer is well fixed in place, and I tested with 20lbs of hand weights to be sure. Also, although the stainless steel slides are visible against the black, I used a black marker to make that less visible. Enjoy!!

Good But Not Great
I'm generally happy with this item but there are a couple of demerits that keep it from getting five stars.Pros: Solid build quality - heavy gauge steel High quality, heavy matte finish Simple but effective design Reversible for use as a shelf or a drawer Vented Well packaged, UPS would have to run over the box to damage the drawer/shelfCons: No mounting hardware included Not a single scrap of installation instruction - and none on the mfg. website Blind (pop) rivets used to mount slide to shelf/drawer interfere with slide (see photo) Silver slide ends are exposed when drawer is closed (see photo)I'm generally not someone to gripe about price but for $100 you'd think they would include screws of some sort. If you have experience with pull-out slides, and know how to separate them, installation won't be too bad. I did spend a few minutes thinking about when to tighten what so the final install wouldn't cause binding. It seems to me they should have chosen a shorter rivet to mount the inner part of the slide to the shelf/drawer. I can feel them bumping across openings in the middle slide element. The exposed slide ends are a purely aesthetic thing but in an otherwise all black rack they kind of stand out.

RACK MOUNT FOR TURNTABLE
It was hard to find a large enough sliding shelf to mount my Beogram TX in my legacy SAE rack. Your rack fit the bill as shown in pictures. The shelf is large enough (20 inches deep) to entirely open the cover for use. No modification needed to be made to the Beogram TX nor to the shelf which is supported from the rear also. On a side note, a one rack-height blank covers all the wires on the left of the TX running to the preamp above.

Very pleased with nice, high quality sliding shelf
This is a nice, high quality sliding shelf. It comes well packaged (like a piece of fine art, in fact) so it arrived in perfect condition. It could be a little tricky to install if you leave only 1U of space like I did. I had to remove a piece of equipment to give me more working room.As another reviewer noted, it doesn't come with any installation instructions, but I finally figured out that you can unbolt the two rear adjustable brackets. I had to remove one of them to get the shelf into place. This might be a problem if you don't have access to the side of the rack so that you can bolt the bracket back on. In any case, once it was installed, it operates very smoothly and feels quite sturdy.

Solid build, cutomizable rail length.
I found the general construction quality of this shelf to be high. Since the back rails are removable, I was able to cut them down and cut one of the mounting posts off and reorient the rails to make them shorter. This enabled me to mount this shelf in a norco 15u rack that otherwise does not support sliding rails.I am not in any way stressing the weight limit, so I can't say how well that holds up when pulled out, but it seems stable.

Recommended for DIT Portable Hard Drive shelf.
I use this for a 19" Wide Rack for the DIT Computer Box. It slides all almost all the way out of my 20" depth. It has a tray 1.5" tall so nothing slides off the front, back or sides. It's vent which is great because I'm using it for Mobile Hard Drives. It's exactly what I wanted.
