Great used book (recycled)
Even though the book is recycled (used), it was in great shape. I was pleasantly surprised there were no margin notes or scribbles in the book. Recycling is super.

I love this book because it reimagines the most classic story of all - THE CREATION
A compelling story takes something old, and repurposes it with a new perspective. What I love about "Big Momma Makes the World" is that takes one of the oldest stories in Western History from one of the oldest books - the Bible: Genesis Chapter 1, and reimagines the creation with God the Mother as "Big Momma", with no time for nonsense with "that little baby sitting on her hip". My favorite scene is where Big Momma figures she "better finish things off in one big bang. 'I need some creepers and crawlers,' said Big Momma. 'Some runners and jumpers. Some diggers and divers. Everybody else wants to get created, this here's your chance.' Hedgehogs and night crawlers, raccoon and garter snakes, rabbits, and polar bears, that's how Big Momma made them all. One Big Bang!"

She's real good, but not very very good! (I'll explain!)
I stumbled upon this book in the library and was charmed by this feminist revision to the usual Genesis story. It takes the Judeo-Christian creation tale, and both makes God a woman, ands tells the tale in a charming folksy Southern drawl that had me and my kids chuckling away. "That's good, that's real good!" the great Mother says of her handiwork.I was surprised when I tried to buy the book off of Amazon, and got a completely different story without the fun Southern drawl! (Same pictures, different text!) I realized that Ms. Root must have written a British version of the story where a snappy Goddess proclaims "That's good, that's very very good!" among other Britishisms. This version was called "Big Mama makes the world" and I just want to warn those buying books to make sure they get the version they are hoping for. Neither of the books hints at the existence of the other.

Big Mama tells us how she made everything!
As a librarian, I approve of this book. Itβs the story of creation, according to Big Mama!! Love it, and my almost 3 year old son loves it too!!

Fun feminist re-telling of creation story
This book has gorgeous illustration and a fun rhyming text which tells the story of Big Mama making the world with a baby on her hip. As she says with each new creation, "That's good. That's real good! " The used library edition was in good condition and shipped quickly.

My Daughter Really Loves This Book
As a mother of 2 children - I am always looking for some new books to captivate their attention. I purchased this from the Bargain Books section of Amazon and I am so glad that I did. The illustrations are wonderful - my daughter likes to flip through the pages on her own and talk about the pictures. The story itself is about how Big Mamma created the world - kind of the way God did. Great book. Thanks for offering it as a Bargain Book Amazon!

if you teach children your beliefs this book can be fun and not offensive
Gotta have attitude when you read this. One person was offended because it takes a lot of artistic liberty with the true story of God's creation. But, if you teach children your beliefs this book can be fun and not offensive.
