Here are my initial thoughts on the Renpho Smart Nutrition Scale. I own a Renpho smart bathroom scale which is amazing! So I was very excited at the prospect of having a scale with an app that measures & calculates my calories directly to my phone. These are my honest thoughts.Appearance: 9/10 - This scale was slightly bigger than other food scales I've been using but still does not have a large footprint at 6.5 in x 9 in. The stainless steel exterior was very sleek & as you can see in the picture, reflective. It's very easy to clean. It also has a lighted display which is an important feature some other scales overlook. At 1.5 lbs it feels heavier than other scales I've owned but also feels sturdier at the same time. I don't think it will be damaged easily & I will be able to put large bowls/plates on it without covering up the display. It can handle up to 11 lbs which is great! Buttons are sleek & only require resting your finger on the button. No pressing. It measures in more weights than I've previously seen (oz, lb, g, ml, fl oz).Setup: 10/10 - Setup of the actual scale was pretty easy. Remove battery tab & you're ready.App: 5/10 - The app that accompanies this scale felt a bit invasive. It required personal info (name, dob, etc) before allowing you to continue registration. I was unable to skip this, so dummy info could be entered here if you wanted. If you are currently using an app to track your food, there will be a learning curve & the app will most likely feel a bit clunky & not very intuitive. Be sure to read the directions with this scale, they're very simple & will save you some time.The app decides on your daily calorie range based on your setup info. I have been unable to change this which would be helpful. When setting a goal weight under the "lose weight" section you will only be able to track short term weight loss goals. There are also "keep in shape" & "gain weight/muscle" options. All goal options are short term with 10 weeks being the max you can plan for. Your favorite brand specific foods will most likely need to be added but once done are there. This is common when apps like this start up as they rely on user input to build their databases. To add food when you're away from your scale is possible but you need to either know the weight or calories of the item to enter them accurately. This is a major flaw of this app. Results defer to 100g weights which doesn't translate to ounces well for the average user. It would be nice to be able to add 1 egg or 1 slice wheat bread. The diary report is a really nice feature & has a nice feel to it. There is also a coffee maker feature that helps you track brewing time, ratio of water to coffee, etc. I did not use this function but wanted to mention it as I've never seen this on a food tracking app before.I really wanted to love this scale. If you are buying just for the scale it's nice looking and seems well built but the app has a ways to go. Based on what I've seen with the bathroom scale, I'm sure there will be programming updates to improve some features so I will update my review when that happens.

Perfect for my food portions

Can't weigh grams accurately. Sure I could calculate how many calories are in the average pecan and track that way, but I bought this scale to be 100% accurate and not have to guess and calculate. It can't weigh chips, or anything really light, so how do I know it's accurate when it comes to meal prepping? I'm considering returning it, but I like that it uses the renpho app automatically, and it's the same app for my bathroom scale. I like all my tracking in one place, but I don't know if this is good enough. Thankfully it's Christmas time and there's a longer return window.
