SybaSD-COMBO-02 PCI USB 2.0 2+1+1 Header and 1394a 2+1 Combo Card, VIA Chipset, with Ulead

Excellent, I think by mistake or because it was out of stock, I didn't get the VIA chipset version, but in fact I was looking for the same card but with the ALI chipset version because it has 2 9pin USB headers; and that's what I got. Very happyPros: works great, excellent for people who's finding extra USB/Firewire ports for front panel.Cons: It doesn't have pin header for firewire, anyway it's ok.

Bought this for a Dell Optiplex 330 mostly for the internal ( 9 pin Internal Header ) that I needed to install a Card Reader since Dell quit fitting the the new mobo's for these systems with the 9-pin header :( . Put the card in and all was looking good then once "Windows 7" got to the Welcome screen.. Sudden Blue Screen And ( *** Hardware Malfunction - Call your hardware vendor for support - NMI Parity Check/Memory Error - "The system has halted" ) I removed and reseated the card several times, made sure OS updated, I even ran the install driver disc that came with it " with the card removed, since I can not get into Windows with it installed " and tried to install again. No matter what I tried same error. Then after re-reading the manual that came with it it lists driver updates for it at [...] with DL code 310301 or 310401 after doing the search as the manual states to do neither of the downloads exist, so allot of help the manual was. I am starting to think the card itself is defective. I am going to try it in and couple other PC's running different OS's and see if that can narrow it down to simply a faulty card. I guess I will be ordering a different PCI card with a internal 9-pin header. This would have been really nice with the internal usb and 1394a built in as well, wish I could have got it to work :(

I installed this about a year ago and it worked perfectly, the internal header and internal plugs as well as the exterior. It went in and it began to work. I had just built the rig and the motherboard had become overcrowded at the rear with usb plugs, so only wanted to open up some space for the kinds of short term plugs like camera, camcorder and such with out having to go through the tangle of speaker, ps/2 and other junk. I couldnt have been happier and it couldnt have been easier. I only ran into trouble when I attempted to install an internal wireless adapter in the only other pci slot. The adapter (Engenius super g wireless card) worked just fine but the syba card ceased to function. re-installation of drivers and switching slots , so far, has not gotten it to live again. It must be some compatibility issue but it isnt listed anywhere in motherboard, wifi, or syba info. I cant find any instructions, if any came with it. i have the box, Mylar bag it came in but i can not determine why it wont work anymore. it worked right before the addition of the wifi card so the proximity of installs points to that as the source but not for sure. it didnt get jarred or touched in the process. I looked for any forum information on its function with other pci devices and have come up empty so far.I would definitely buy another one, it isnt working now , but it was perfect out of the box and a very good product as far as my experience has been. I only point out the issue i have now as one persons experience. I am using an Asus M4A790XTD EVO board and the other pci slot has the engenius card, the only super g 108mbps, they offer. pcie slot has a gigabyte gpu 4890 so there is plenty of room. the 5870s are in the other computers plus i have fans in the side panel blowing in and the rear and top exhausting so heat is no issue, the board keeps 15ºF over ambient/room temp.That is about all i can offer on this excellent card that doesnt happen to work anymore for me.

Do not buy this product. After installing this product and drivers I: lost all information on my computer, lost all information on my 300 Gig external hard drive, and spent days trying to recover my computer to pre firewire/USB 2.0 install. I'm NOT new to installing hardware on computers so it was definetly not my error(This item has no tec support with this product). I would have gladly paid 3x as much for a product that works properly and didn't wipe out my computer information.

For those who had a problem with your installation or the device itself. Whether you have the most expensive device or the cheapest on the universe, if you set it up the wrong way or set it up with compatibility issues on your PC or Operating system, You will certainly end up blaming a device you just lately installed on your PC. I installed this device a long time ago and it is still running perfect. Installing it was simpler than booting up your PC.. can hold 6 input/output peripherals at the same time with no sweat!
