FluanceTurntable Platter Mat (Rubber Black) - Durable Audiophile Grade Silicone Design for Vinyl Record Players (PFHTRP)

Compared to my previous felt matt, This rubber matt is a vast improvement, didn't think it would make much difference so held off buying one. Technics ship some of there high end turntables with rubber matts like the one above for a reason. It's easy to keep clean and there's noticeably less static but most of all improved sound.

Very good quality and I haven't noticed any of my records sticking to yet and the grooves help to lift your records off with ease. Now people have said this collects dust and it does, but I found a product made by Big Fudge that is a little lint roller and it keeps this mat dust free and you just wash it off every so often, ready to use again.

could be a little cheaper but very good quality a premium product.

I tried three turn-table platter mats (and paid over £70 for the three of them including the famous Origin Live). They were apparently made specifically for Linn Turntables; they are all useless when using the 180 gr Vinyl records as they stick to the record when turning sides/removing it from the platter.This is absolutely the right thing for the job it’s made for. Just go for it!

Good damping makes good sound

Oh well, so much for this being less prone to static than the default felt mats - it isn’t ! After playing 2 LPs it has just as much static when you lift the vinyl off as the felt mats. It likes dust too thanks to the slightly sticky feel of the silicone rubber surface .. can clean it under the tap, but it soon hoovers up dust again. No noticeable sound benefits at all, but then I didn’t expect any.

Like many I bought the Fluance RT85 Turntable (no mat). After 6 months of trial that was an error for me so I bought the mat. No more slipping on the acrylic platter and less static. I had no issue with the packaging and just gave it a quick wipe with a damp cloth to remove the static caused from taking it out of the plastic bag.

The rubber mat tightens up the bass by a few dbs and adds some heft to the bottom end and musical notes such as piano notes at the expense of some airiness and transparency at the high ends and a little reduction in the sound stage. It is a good trade off for my speakers (B&W 705's) which are very airy and transparent but lacking some bottom end heft. To be honest, the ratings should be 4-1/2 due to this compromise but I gave it a 5 stars due to its complementary contribution to the musical presentation of my speakers. You may want a different type of turntable platter mat if your speakers tend to be heavy at the low end with less airiness and transparency at then high end.

Thought this might be too thick for my P3 on which the cartridge was already running quite low. However it worka great and sounds awesome
