If you want to do detail work or use aquarelle pencils, you can't go wrong with this paper. Far superior to Strathmore and the other competitors I've tried.

This is the best cotton paper I've used to date. Very rarely will there be blemishes in the paper compared to other brands I've tried. I love the hot press because it is the best surface for line and wash and detailed work.

I have tried other cotton watercolor papers, but none compare favorably to Arches. I prefer the hot press variety for the precision I can achieve with graphite, pen and ink, watercolor and gouache. Expensive. I hate having to spend so much, but, like the Windsor and Newton watercolors and goauche I use on this paper, Arches has never, ever proven anything less than superb in terms of quality.

It is overpriced compared to similar weight, but the product does have a better tooth and can be handled with a little rough erasing of your base sketch.

I know this paper gets great reviews from most artists, but I don't get it.It buckles, it does not take paint well, and every brush stroke is a fight. I do not understand why people rave about this paper so much.Also, the 11x16 is NOT glued down on all four sides unlike some of their other papers are supposed to be.If you want a great paper for wet and dry media get Strathmore 500 Heavy Weight Mixed Media Paper. It may cost more but it is a million times better.
