Call Leica BEFORE ordering. Make sure the product is what you REALLY need.
The problem with this product may not be a problem for certain applications. It's technical claims made me think it was appropriate for machine control (i.e. agricultural land leveling). It is not. After several months on the phone and through e-mail correspondence with Leica Geosystems, I was allowed to upgrade to the Rugby 420. It cost almost $4000 dollars more. This is way more than I was intending to spend, and that extra expense may be a hard ship I will not recover from... So if you own an older laser beacon made by the defunct Laser Alignment Systems, (in my case the LB400) the Rugby 4xx series is the correct replacement. Trying to use the Rugby 680 will result in unreliable drift and constant stoppage of work every 20 minutes to re-calibrate grade. I would have preferred to return the Rugby 680 for a full refund, but the window of time had expired before I found out it was not suitable for me. Leica ,not amazon, allowed me to at LEAST acquire a usable product but 3x more $$$$.
