I love this lite. The base is quite weighted so stays in place even with a rambunctious puppy!NBright light but it isn't adjustable. I wish it had different brightness settings. Overall, I'm happy with this lite.

This is the perfect lamp to provide task lighting when I am crocheting. It is bright and I’m able to position the light to give me the best working light for my task.

Easy to assemble! Very sturdy. Very bright. I like the flexible arm so I can bend the lamp down closer to my cross stitch. The base is very heavy which keeps it sturdy.

This is my second one. The first I use at home for reading. It works great when we have power outages and I plug it into my fuelless generator. Hardly uses any power. I bought a second for my father-in-law. He has troubles turning it on as the switch is a small paddle switch on the far end of the light head. It is barely visible and even hard to feel for someone with diminished dexterity.

This lamp was very well packaged. It took less than 10 minutes to assemble. My wife uses it for knitting and tells me that the amount of light is just perfect, even in an otherwise dark room. It's a very nice lamp for the money. My only complaint, which I have with most lamps sold today is that a plastic shield that covers the bulbs and softens the light is not included. Fortunately, my wife has plenty of hair on the top of her to soften the impact should she hit the bulbs when getting up from the chair. I would not be so fortunate.

I think I've added years of good eyesight for my husband by ordering the Ottlite! He sits by the window and reads in good natural light in the daytime, but at night he was reading by a dim lamp placed on a nearby bookshelf. The Ottlite T81G5T-SHPR is a floor lamp that bends and swings exactly where he needs it, and then sheds beautiful natural-like light on his book. It is the perfect answer. And it was easy to assemble when we took it out of the box. I own a smaller Ottlite that I use when I sew, so I knew the quality of the product I was ordering, and I was pleased at the reasonable price. All in all, I am very satisfied.

PRO:The bulb is fairly bright and color-balanced.CONS:I cant believe how high this is rated. It almost seems impossible. This is the kind of occurrence that makes me doubt the whole review system. It really is crap. Just look at the base and you can see that it is extremely tipsy. Unless the hood is directly in front, it tips over. Makes you wonder how on earth this got by R&D. If OttLite has any R&D. After several purchases, I doubt they have such a stage in their design process. Why are their bases always so small and light and, in this case, only over the front of the light? A cat could have known this design wouldn't work. Did they ever test it? I am overwhelmed by the lack of common sense here.Threads that connect two parts of post are cheap tin and strip without much pressure. You will probably have a worthless piece of junk soon if you buy this lamp... and...Arm droops after a month.Finally , the screw on bottom needs constant tightening or the lamp just starts to hang loosely and spin.SUMMARYVery disappointed. Not a cheap lamp. Quality is equivalent to something you might get at the dollar store. Except for the bulb. If you want to pay $80 for a bulb buy this lamp.UPDATEContacted OttLite. After back-and-forth emails they agreed to replace it if I would send them $10, and pictures of the severed cord! I will update the review when I get a replacement. Seems to me that they have no incentive to produce a quality product if customers have to pay even more to get their defective product replaced. It should be replaced for free. Im not even sure it is worth it, as I suspect the replacement will have the same problem, as the metal is very, very soft at the weakest point, in addition to it's other poor design failings. Done buying from OttLite.

Not adjustable enough.

I liked the compactness of the standing light fixture and yet it was sturdy. It also fit into my decor.

I am very happy with this lamp. It is extremely flexible - you can put it at almost any angle you want. It is very bright and helps colors be seen accurately. Only downside is that the bulbs do get hot, so could be dangerous for little kids if they were to reach up and touch it - there is no covering over the bulbs. Otherwise an amazing lamp.

Great light to read with. A little tippy. Industrial looking. Good value for money.
