I have tried several heaters for Kombucha and this one works great. The most important thing it to make sure you attach the temp probe to the glass of your brewing device. While it comes with a suction cup, this leaves the probe a bit off the glass. As you can see in the first picture, I used some painting tape and press the probe against the glass.When you start your next batch kombucha, remember you must not only put on the heating mat, but the probe. If you forget to put the probe on your brewing vessel, the heating pad will continue to heat, no matter what your heat setting is.Thus, you will most likely kill you SCOBY.Best, Greg

My starter was too cold on my counter and this worked perfectly to finally get it going. Super easy to use, temperature control is easy. Highly recommend.

I have been using for about a week. It has been raising ambient temperature of a terarrium about 4 degrees F. I do not have it placed under terarrium bottom but rather on the side above the soil. It would probably be more effective at raising the temperature if I was using it under the terrarium or to warm seedling pots or kombucha as indicated.I wonder if the thermostat is keeping the heat low, though it is set to a much higher temp than has been achieved. Fear of it getting to hot has prevented me from trying the heat pad without thermostat.I like that it is not adhered with adhesive. That way I can change my mind and move or remove it should I choose to. I am using a strap but it comes with 2 big rubber bands that would probably hold it on a gallon jar.

Ordered the wrong size. Got the same brand but bigger.Works well

This did not seem to be working, so I did some testing. First thing I noticed was that while the mat did not feel warm & did not budge the temperature at all on my ferment jar, I could feel heat from the digital thermostat! Further testing showed the mat does not get at all warm when plugged directly into the outlet and insolate. Verified temperatures by feel, with infrared thermometer, and the digital thermostat itself. Put the probe directly under the thermostat and watched the temperature climb. Tucked the probe into a coiled & insolated mat and watch the temperature drop back to ambient.Probably just a bad connection inside the mat. Very poor quality control. Returning. Not sure I'll bother trying a replacement.

Could not get it to temp despite settings. Returned item for different model.
