Great vacuum
I had my "cheapest we could find" vacuum which still works after 7 years but it's time to upgrade as I noticed it doesn't clean the carpet so good. For comparison, I vacuumed a little bit with both vacuums and there's an obvious difference in how much it pickes up.So what I LOVED MOST about this vacuum is that the suction power is great, cleaning path is 13 inches, which is wide. I love that it's swivel, let's you manuver so comfortable around things. Cord length is longer than I had so for me it's an improvement,I no longer have to switch the outlets. Noise level is about the same for my both vacuums so I didn't notice big difference, but it's a vacuum, I don't expect silent mode)) You can turn the brush off so it doesn't rotate on the floor, which is cool. You can adjust suction for "plush carpet " or "low carpet".Also, Tangle free brush...well, let's be honest it's not completely free of hair but hell yes, there's tremendous difference how it was on my old vacuum...sometimes I had to clean the hair 2-3 times just to clean one room cuz there's 3 girls with long hair in the house. So don't expect it totally free of hair but it's pretty close to it and it's easy to clean. I love the lights...very helpful when small particles jumping around the brush so I know I need to give ot another pass. Normally, I wouldn't see it cuz I have bad eyes plus astigmatism so in bad lighting conditions I don't see good. Anti allergen filtration system is also important to my family as we are all allergic to dust. My air purifier usually indicates raise in air contamination when I vacuum...this time NOTHING, so I feel like the system does the job well. What I didn't like that it's pretty heavy...it's subjective but I checked the competitors, they all about the same weight. But it's not really complicating things for my back, even though my lover back is getting hurt often, the wheels move very smooth so the vaccum moves easy. I think it's my main complaint, I wish it was lighter. It has a very cool feature, the cord clip. But while it's super helpful you can see on my photo, just one day of use and it has a lot of marks, which over time will damage the cord...(smth to improve definitely). But overall it's an amazing vacuum, made my carpets clean and fluffy again.

Excellent replacement for aging Shark Navigator
I've been using a Shark Navigator over the last several years that I refurbished myself. I had to finally let it go because the hoses were starting to crack and break in spots where glue or tape did not fix. I was hesitant to go to Bissell after using Shark over the last several years. I previously owned a cheap entry level Bissell from Walmart and it wasn't bad by any means, but the suction was lacking. This model is leaps ahead of both their entry level offerings and the Shark vacuums I've used in the past. I really appreciate the strong suction, LED headlights (never experienced this before, game changer), modular design with minimal points for failure, weight, swivel head, attachment combo tool and brush. All screws are easy to access unlike Shark vacuums which makes this super easy to service and repair. It does an awesome job of suction compared to the Shark Navigator as well, pulled up stuff in my area rug that my old Shark was missing. The lift off feature is huge, I can walk around my house and vacuum the baseboards and crown molding with ease. All in all, highly recommend this model.

A Fairly Comprehensive Review
I just purchased this vacuum and cleaned most of the carpet in my house this weekend. Here are my thoughts:I purchased this model based entirely on the Amazon reviews. I actually have been very impressed with Shark vacuums that I have used at friends' houses, but the Shark reviews, though generally good, seemed to be typically a few percentage points less positive than the Bissell reviews. Even more, when I looked at the one star reviews for the Shark vacuums, a large number of people complain about extremely poor customer service. I just won't support a company that doesn't stand behind its products. To be fair, I did later talk to a friend who had a good story to tell about Shark customer support recently. Still, the large number of complaints about poor customer service in the reviews has to give one pause.Having eliminated Shark from my prospective models, I started looking at the Bissells because they seemed to have some of the least percentages of negative reviews across the board. Many negative reviews were due to threads and hair clogging the brush roller. This model did not seem to have that problem as much, based on the reviews I read. Neither, have I, so far, had that problem with this vacuum.Other negative reviews for this model mention it being heavy and clumsy to use. Here I have to say that, being over 50, my perspective on what is heavy and clumsy seems to be quite different. I remember the clunky vacuums of yesteryear, and compared to what I am used to, this model is a veritable sports car--light weight, maneuverable, and comparatively easy to get into tight places. Perhaps compared to a cordless stick vacuum or some of the very lightweight Sharks it might be considered a bit unwieldy. Some people complained about it being hard to push on shag or high pile carpet. My carpet is a low pile, so I didn't experience that problem, except on a small shag throw rug where the large amount of suction did require a bit of force to push the vacuum across while trying to hold the rug down with one foot. The suction on this vacuum seemed very good. Some people claim the suction is not nearly as good as a Shark or a Dyson. From my limited experience with those other vacuums, I honestly could not say. This one seems to have as much suction as any vacuum I remember using, I just can't give an accurate comparison. Some people complain about difficulty using the various tools with the hose. The hose is a little short, but I really wouldn't want it flopping around on the vacuum when I am using it as an upright, so this just seems like something you live with. Using the hose tools does tend to make it tip over, but the Lift-Off feature where you can separate the canister from the carpet roller base makes this pretty much a non-issue for me.What I really like about this Bissell is the intelligent design. Everything seems well thought out for efficiency and ease of use. I am not sure how well all the plastic parts will hold up with use, but most of the vacuums out there seem to be made of light weight plastic parts, so I just hope for the best. Time will tell. The cord seems a bit thin and stiff. I know they make more supple cords, but they are more expensive. Nonetheless, I think Bissell should have used a thicker, more supple cord on this unit.My only real complaint is the small size of the canister. I ended up dumping it four or five times in the course of two or three hours, but my carpet was pretty dirty. It was easy to dump without ending up breathing in a lot of the dust.Bottom line, this vacuum did a great job on my old, low pile carpet, as well as a decent job on a few tiled areas. The upholstery/stair brush attachment also seemed to work quite well. I am pleased with my purchase so far. My main concern is if it will hold up over the years (especially the plastic parts). I will definitely take away stars if it fails within the first couple of years. If it is still going strong in five years, I will. give it an unqualified five star rating.

Worth the money, and very handy.
I am a newly single mother of 2 girls still at home, and this was my very first purchase in that capacity. I was very nervous about buying something online such as a vacuum, but I couldn't be happier with my purchase. We have 2 cats in our house, and 3 of us ladies have long hair. This vacuum works really well at picking up all the hair that gets on carpets, furniture and even bare floors. It's not as heavy as some upright vacuum cleaners, and is so easy to handle that my youngest likes to use it to vacuum her carpet (which is it's own miracle). This is a very good value for the money.
