OK
I got this and another one from the same company. This one... aiight. The other one was a lot better. The general information contained in this book was helpful and the test questions were good. But, don't rely on this solely to pass. Use this as a stepping stone to know what you need to study more! Almost as a supplemental guide to the other one that the same company makes. There is a lot of information to learn.Don't use this to only take the test and don't read it as iff this is all you need to know :) It's a good started study guide! :)

Excellent information but bad editing
This is a wealth of information about art materials and art history. I do not know what I would do to study without this book. Just a heads up to everyone, though, that it is not well edited. It is not well formatted and there are word processing errors.

Less Organized Than A James Joyce Novel, More Painful Than Appendicitis
This is a train wreck of a study guide. I’m not sure if the writers were struggling to meet a publishing deadline, but based on the number of typos there was clearly never any sort of proofreading involved between first draft and press. The layout is also confusing and apparently without plan, jumping around in the art history unit so randomly I suspect there was a dartboard or Magic 8-Ball involved. There is the sense that almost everything in the book was written around 1990, given that the field of digital art is summed up in less than half a dozen sentences. Most of the book reads as if it were written by a bored teacher’s assistant who had been delegated the task as punishment for an indiscretion at the faculty Christmas party.I had to set the book down several times because it just made me...angry. There is NO REASON for a study guide to be so awful that it makes someone angry. I’m just going to put this suggestion out there, “Secrets Study Guides” publishers: maybe have the folks writing the English Art Exam study guide take a pass at this one before the next printing? Also, perhaps offer the job of writing it to someone with an apparent interest in the subject, so it doesn’t come off as a joylessly paraphrased Wikipedia entry?Ugh. I was hoping this review would be cathartic, but now I have to go back and actually STUDY with this abomination before the CSET.

Good content
I haven’t finished reading the study guide but so far it seems good. I do feel it is important to depict the art in color. Some of the photos are hard to see and some descriptions talk about color. I find myself having to look up the piece of art they are describing so I can get a better sense of it.But overall, the information is great and very helpful.

Helps!
This helped me pass the CSET exam! Wish it had better explanations of some of the photography questions. I read 2 other art history books. Understanding art and the annotated Mona Lisa.

Mixed Information
I am currently in the process of studying for my Art CSET and using this book. I am getting frustrated because the information in the book is contradictory to the answers on the practice test provided. What I am reading and studying in the text part of the book, I feel, isn't properly preparing me for the questions at the end.I haven't taken the test yet, so I am hoping that this book will prove a passing result. Fingers crossed!

Cset Art Book
This book has a lot of great information and I feel like I learned a lot. Unfortunately, when I went to take the CSet in Art none of the information was on it. I don't know if it is an old book or why it was like that. I searched everywhere and could not find any newer one.

Great resource
I have just started studying for my exam and it appears that the guide will be very useful in test prep.
