If you're familiar with standard pyraminx style puzzles--especially the larger ones with five triangles along each edge, rather than the original ones with just four--this one, known in cubing circles as the duomo pyraminx, is practically speaking a variation on that, and the algorithms or moves that you would use to solve it are the same. The main difference between this pyraminx and a standard pyraminx is that there are no corner pieces to twist; but of course, those pieces are the easiest to solve on a standard pyraminx, so you won't miss them. That said, you DO hold the four corners when you are manipulating the puzzle--again, no different from a standard pyraminx--and these represent the only turning points. Not to mention, although at first glance it looks like there may be as many as 12 of the little edge pieces, there are actually only six! And the algorithms to manipulate those pieces are similar to the ones used to move the center pieces around. So, basically, it is a lot easier to learn this puzzle than you might think. Michele Regano has an excellent video on his YouTube channel demonstrating the moves, and you can master this puzzle very quickly if you pay close attention. Build quality is great, as usual for this manufacturer, and the stickerless plastic design is superior and longer-lasting.
