100% Cotton makes a big difference
Received this order quickly and undamaged. This is a pad of paper attached at the top, not a block that is attached on all sides. I greatly prefer 100% cotton over the less expensive standard paper. I recommend that before you start painting you tear off a page, run it under the faucet for a minute, and then let it completely dry. This helps the fibers to relax, and you will get much less buckling if you paint with generous amounts of water. Cotton also holds up better when you do a little rubbing or scrubbing. This version of Arches paper is Hot Press which means it is very smooth and does not have the texture of Cold Press. Hot Press is helpful for painting detail and getting fine control of edges.

Obviously Great!
Your watercolors will never look the same on other papers ;-) It's a lovely buy (and there was no damage in the shipping). The only thing to highlight is that the paper is not bright white, which I do prefer. But the colors come out lovely anyway and the paper has not buckled with my washes. 100% cotton is where it's at with the watercolor.

Texture holds the paint well. Size can be used whole piece or cut into smaller pieces for cards.

My favorite hot press watercolor paper
In my book, for fine detailed watercolor work, this paper has no weakness and is aces. It's also great for colored pencil work. The only thing worth noting is that the paper tends to be bigger than the specs, just enough that it usually need trimming to fit in a frame that matches the paper size. In other words, if you use a 10 x 14 pad and buy a 10 x 14 frame, you'll very likely need to trim the paper.
