waste of time
WTF…… Yes, it was the first thought that came to my mind, when I just finished this book. Not much to about this book. It was so awful…………..Though the publishers placed in a Genre of Fiction, but trust me, I could not mention a proper Genre for it, be it Horror, Classic, Contemporary, Crime anything in the dictionary didn’t came in my mind. What could be nice horror story, all on a sudden became a detective writing, then to story of a criminal scientist, and then a patch of Dexter (My Dark Passenger) and a blend of the Nightmare of the Elm Street, and finally ending with a Bollywood type of drama.I’ve read many books, but one thing I can’t find about the new generation Indian Authors, that most them write their book, like the Movie Script. Be it Chetan Bhagat, be it Ravinder Singh, be it Savi Sharma, be it anyone else.Anyways, without wasting time, I would like to say , reading of the book was waste of my time. However due to a nice blend of words and sometimes nice use of quotes,My Rating is 3.0/5.0.

A quiet brooding stroll in the mountains... with ghosts - Unputdownable!
I am a sucker for mountains, Himalayas in particular. That disclaimer out of the way, let's begin. Two little girls - out in the park. Only now there is one little girl. The other one is gone. Or, is she really? And the roses bled is a debut novel by Mehak Daleh. She has skilfully woven a tale incorporating mystery, horror, scenic mountains and a bit of personal philosophy. This book is eminently readable and just the right size. I finished reading it in two sittings. The characters are well fleshed out. You can almost reach out and touch them. Some of the characters, you may not want to touch them though. The story starts off with great urgency. This urgency soon develops into a dread. And, the pace does not let up. The storyline moves through the past and present which can be a bit of challenge to follow but is well-worth the effort. The ending is macabre and will haunt you. It will leave you with lingering doubts about people around you and the masks they wear to get through life.On the delivery side, the books was delivered before time and well packaged. To conclude, if you enjoy a good scary story which makes you jump (and chuckle nervously), get this book! You cannot go wrong in your choice of this short literary love affair.

Dont judge this book by its cover.
Yes thats what I like to say for THIS book. The cover looks good but the story ain't enough. I bought this book after reading its summery which is written on the back cover, summery is so satisfying. So I bought this book then I got to know its the wrost novel I've ever read .Its not the first time I've read a horror story .To be very honest I love horror stories but I hate this one. This story is stupid ,pointless and very boring just like a lowbudget Bollywood horror movie.Dont buy this book if you really care about your money and time.

A delectable recipe for Halloween!
You think you know a place very well. Its characteristics are something you’ve grown up with and you have a certain idea about how it looks and feels when the seasons change, even if you aren’t around that place at the time. And then years later, you read something that changes your perspective about the place completely, even if for just a while. That’s the first wave I went through with ‘And the roses bled’, because I lived in Chandigarh and have been to Himachal so many times, that I couldn’t imagine them to be any other way than what I had known all along. But boy, was I wrong! Then came the second wave. Of feeling everything the protagonist is feeling and investing myself in the story just the way the author invested in the characters. It is intense, and it comes from the heart. I am purposely not mentioning anything about the story so as to not give away much. You can read the brief on the back of the book anyway. For a first-time author, Mehak Daleh makes very good use of the simple yet strong tool, writing, to weave a gripping read. She does the magic with small things like describing things and places as objects and feelings, we would otherwise not have thought much of.If you are looking to read something that is captivating, spooky in parts with an end that leaves you with a lot of afterthoughts, but also reminds you that some authors still have the ability to use the language with ease and flair, look no further. This book is a delectable recipe for Halloween. I’d like to read more books by her and look forward to see her try her hand in other genres!

Apart from certain elements in the book, enjoyed it for the most part.
This book is about twin girls who go to a garden one day to play, and one of them gets abducted. The rest of the story is about how the other sister tries to find out what has happened to her twin, and some other kids that have gone missing. It’s not merely a murder mystery, or a supernatural thriller, or a horror story, but actually a mishmash of all these things, and I think that’s what causes the problem. There are too many elements in it, and that’s probably why you can’t really enjoy it for what it is.If any of you have lived in a hill station, you will know the atmosphere that the author is trying to create. Those old stone buildings, those winding roads that look like they could be haunted at night, and the graveyards with the white headstones. Atmospheric and creepy, right? She manages to evoke all this through her writing. This is her debut novel and I look forward to more books from this author.
