Spellbinding
Spellbinding. Absolutely stunning is the work of Brian Froud there is no other like it. Very life-like believable characters which seem to take on a life of their own. I have started a collection of Froud books and highly recommend them. A lot of reading within as well. Beautiful collectors poster and art prints also contained within.

Faeries by Brian Froud
I was highly delighted with this beautiful book. It was in Very Very Good Condition, being just as advertised - Like New and at an unbelievably low price. The firm has a very prompt delivery service and impressive after care. The book itself is mesmerising as the art work is unbelievable.

Faery Watchers Guide Book.
Back in the 70s I bought the original paperback edition of this book and over the years it has been well thumbed by me, my children and grandchildren. So it was great to learn that a collector's edition was available which, hopefully, I can keep for myself. It is a book that offers everlasting appeal to the discerning faery watcher.

An absolute delight
I have long loved the world of the fey. I have many books, both modern and old, which tell stories of the world of faerie. So, perhaps because of my love of this world, it is unsurprising that I finally discovered this book. Brian Froud is a well-known name in this particular branch of literature, having produced many works on the world of faerie. This particular edition is worth having for a couple of reasons. The first is the fantastic introduction by Froud himself. He describes how, over thrity years ago, FAERIES came into being. He talks about the shared inspiration with Alan Lee, and how upon its release it created quite a storm. People who are expecting the faeries to be pretty winged women, resting on flower petals may be shocked by the quality of this faerie book. Froud and Lee, drawing upon folklore, instead present faeries with "wizened faces with sharp, little (or big!) teeth, most of them up to no good".A word of warning though to parents who see the word faerie and assume that this book will be suitable for young readers - although the text is fine, some of the illustrations feature nudity. Although it is in a very innocent way, parents may want to stick to the traditionally illustrated stories for sharing with their children.

As great as I remembered it
Fell in love with the sketches and overall artwork when I first saw a copy at friends house when I was 12. The content hold up well (I am 27 now) and still enjoy the book immensely. The book is hardcover and the images are printed well and the extra prints and posters were a lovely addition. The four star rating is purely for personal reasons (I am not fond of the type of paper used although I know that it works well for this type of illustrated book)
