Toyland: The Legacy of Wallace Noel (Claus Universe)

And next up ...... The island of Misfit Toys!
Not really. There isn't any mention of misfit toys in this entire book. What this incredible journey is about is ... okay. You got me. It's about toys. It's about Toyland, in fact. A magical workshop that came to being because of a misplaced hat. No, really. That's what started it all. Tony Bertauski has created another chapter in the increasingly rich and complex world of Clause. This is book 7. I encourage you to read all - ALL - of them. Each one is a stand alone novel, full of magic and wonder and capable of being adapted by some really smart production company into it's very own feature film... or even a long running mini series. *cough* are you listin' AMAZON? *cough* Solid characters, solid story line, just enough conflict to make you go Oh! and at times there might be a misstep, and I used to watch him like a hawk for those but I've long since just given into the pure Joy of the storytelling. This last one... okay, a bit more plodding, but still a nice read with some very good character development. I encourage y'all to read some of this other series too. It was his "Foreverland" batch that got me hooked on him. Go! Read! Pick this guy up! Just pick up a book, regardless, but pick this guy up!

The toys
Not up to par with other Claus series books. Just too long with not much in between beginning and ending.

Another tale of the Claus universe for Christmas
This time it was hard to get into this book. The characters were too wooden at first. But as the book got going you warm up to them. And soon the tale took off. By the end you were glad you finished it. Now waiting for next Christmas.

A wild winter ride
At first the story seemed a little disjointed. But at some point, and i can't put my finger on exactly when, the story took shape and took hold of me. I could not put it down. I had to keep reading until the very end. There must have been some magic in that old elf hat she found for when she put it on her head.... Well for that you will just have to read for yourself.

Another Grand Slam in the Claus Series
This was a great read - very suspenseful! Kept me up late at night more than once! Bertauski has done it again with Toyland. The Claus series has become my favorite 'Must Read' for the Christmas season. With just the right mix of magic, science fiction and believability spun with characters that grab your heart, you won't be able to put this one down. I'm already looking forward to what he may come up with for next year!

Just read it!
I am addicted to this series. I wait impatiently for the next to come out. Masterful storyteller. The Claus universe is my favorite backstory for all the characters in the Christmas stories. I start them and cannot put them down until I finish them. The characters are so easy to visualize, you both love and hate some of them, despise a few but you are never ambivalent toward any.

Another excellent ride!
If you like Christmas stories with a little twist, you will love this series!Tin and her family go to an out of the way, strange house to spend their Christmas holiday. When Tin and her step brother start exploring, she finds out that the Christmas stories she grew up hearing may have a little more truth to them then she could have ever imagined.

a different Santa story.
I’m not sure how to explain this book as it’s a very different story about Santa, the elves and the reindeer. The story revolves around an ancient house inherited by a family who decide to spend Christmas there. The house has strange small doorways, wonky walls, stairs that go nowhere and secret passages. The young girl of the family is chosen by a toy maker hat to rescue the toys that had been abandoned by the previous wearer of the hat and the girl, the toys and the hat have many odd adventures.

Toyland
Tony Bertauski has created a new Christmas tradition with his Claus Universe stories. They are linked by love and sharing of true Christmas spirit. Each new story builds upon previous ones and sometimes one can glimpse previously met and welcome characters. These are not the stories and legends you may have grow up with but new and enchanting facets to them.
