First one I opened was Dead On Arrival. Unreliable for a small business.
I run a small business with a group of friends. We ordered 18 of these WD 10TB Elements External drives so we can each have additional storage to our work computers. The reason for these specific drives is because they were reviewed as easy to set up and use and have high reliability. They arrived in 6 packages, each with 3. I opened the first package to begin testing them before taking them all to the workplace. I connected it to power, plugged in the USB drive, and pressed the power button. Nothing. Nothing happened. I don't have the best technological computer skills so I wasn't able to troubleshoot what was wrong with it nor did I want to do anything that may hurt my chances of a return.I was told these drives were very reliable and I get one dead on arrival. This is very disappointing. I would not feel safe using these at work or giving them to my editors to store precious photos and video footage. There was nothing to indicate that the drive had been damaged during shipping. That just means that WD put a faulty drive in there and didn't do enough testing. It appears to me that these drives are actually used. I opened the other 5 boxes and this suspicion seems to have been confirmed. All 18 packages were repackaged by Amazon and sold as new. Please view the first image I upload to see this. It is clear to me that they do not care for their customers enough if they are willing to sell re-packaged old goods as new for full price.Luckily, Amazon has a generous return policy so I am returning all of these for a full refund. I don't even want to bother checking the other 17. I will take my business elsewhere and find a better product.

Drive failed on 6TB Elements Desktop Drive in three months. RMAed. Replacement failed in three months.
Had been using it as a backup drive. The drive failed within three months of purchase, Data inaccessible.Edit 5/23/18 RMA process was painless, easily accomplished online. Used normal RMA process; Turnaround between old drive arriving at facility and new drive shipping out was 2 days. All told, about a week. Will see how this drive shakes out over the next few months.Edit: 8/28/2018. The RMA Replacement for the drive has also failed, almost exactly three months after delivery.

Six Teraflops of Meme Storage
I bought this because I was tired of my tiny 240GB hard drive being filled. The constant struggle of deleting my favourite video game to install the newest $80 microtransaction riddled mess, only to re-install my favourite game (Minecraft - it's 2019) has driven me mad. Until now. 6TB of storage means I can have all the newest games, as well as a slew of dank memes, without having to ever delete them. Now I can keep all the EA games I buy but never play after I realize it is just a slot machine disguised as an RPG. It's also great if you do any high-quality 3D rendering. I completed a 50GB 3D scan of some work stuff, rendered it, modeled it, and slapped it in this bad boy so I can take it back and forth from work. Always great when you can store your work with your play, it's a shame I can't store my dinner in it, too.

Shuckers dream
Edit April 2021: These models are now the WD80EDAZ variants, these are air filled and not helium. There are reports of these drives running at 7200rpm and not 5400rpm. They also run about 5c-10c hotter than their helium counterparts. If you don't plan on shucking these, it's ideal to put a fan on the enclosure to keep the drive cool as it can reach 60c under load. No issues with mine in a server chassis that provides air cooling for my drives.Original review:These are great for shucking (helium variant inside). The warranty from Australia is a little unclear however and the price needs to be readjusted to the sales that occur in the US. Contact WD after registering your drive to receive a free AU power adapter.Edit: I contacted WD to query the "out of region" warranty. They informed me that the drives will still remain under warranty and that you can claim the warranty within Australia.
