Veterinary Science: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions)
G**S
Densely written
Perhaps due to the breadth of Veterinary science, the book ends up becoming a written list of animals and what diseases they suffer from, which could easily have been provided better in a table form or supplemented with extra diagrams / illustrations.Whilst this is interesting to read (initially), there’s no explanation of the many diseases (eg the pathophysiology, particular animals’ susceptibility as a result of their biology / lifestyle / environments etc), so as a result it quickly becomes tiresome. However, I did find the section on veterinary psychology interesting and novel though.Nonetheless, I can see this as a good starting off point for any prospective would-be veterinary student. The jibes at medical (ie human) doctors also provide a wry smile, if only for their complete lack of awareness.
