LaCie FUEL Wireless Hard Drive 2TB Wi-Fi USB 3.0 (9000464U)

I ordered this product because I was sick and tired of portable DVD players & toting around DVDs in the car. I used this product on a 5 hour trip with my family along with 2 Android tablets for my kids to watch all their MP4 movies. We don't have to worry about the internal memory of the tablets to store movies! I'm cheep so I wasn't willing to fork over the money to buy all new movies in MP4 format so I went through all the kids DVD's and ripped them... it took a long time but now that it is done we don't have do mess with disks getting scratched etc. For now we are only using the Fuel for our mobile devices but in the future when we upgrade to a smart TV I believe we should be able to stream all our movies to that as well. We have Google Chromecast but currently the ap the Fuel uses is not setup to work with it. Not sure if I should mention this in the review for the hardware or not but as far as I'm concerned they work hand in hand. On the ap when selecting movies there is a place for a picture of the movie but no pictures where shown so my small children had a hard time finding the movies they wanted to watch. This picture problem may be happening because I am using ripped DVDs and maybe normal digital movies will show a cover picture. I would highly recommend this product over any other product I researched. It has the most memory, longest battery life, streams movies to 3 devices at a time, can also connect to wifi so you can get internet through the device and not have to switch between wifi signals to view emails etc.

Lacie work fairly well. It is not for the faint of heart (technology challenged). I have a 16 gig Apple iPad Air so when my memory gets full from pictures and video I upload everything to Lacie. The software app is a little clumsy to work with and you cannot specify which folder you would like to up load to since a folder is generated for the iPad or iPhone for you or whatever device you are using. So if you want to separate your pics from your vids you need to do it manually on Lacie. However for a 2 Terabite drive its not so bad. It's nice to be able to stream video and music without having to worry about data usage or finding a free wifi source. My two cents!

Great design, lightweight, huge capacity, but even on power within one foot of iPad fourth gen the wifi playback freezes often -- sometimes so long that reboot and restart play is required. Need to fix this.

I've had this long enough to use it for three very long road trips and it has performed very well. I think some of the negative reviews are from people who don't have much experience with technology.We use this to connect five iPads so the kids can watch videos in the car. We have been able to successfully stream different videos to up to five devices at the same time! Pretty impressing. There are a number of nice apps available for this device, but you can also just use a simple web browser (including mobile safari on iOS devices). This is important because some of our iPads are 1st generation and the apps do not work on these older devices. The web browser access still works fine.The battery does not last as long as advertised when five devices are streaming from it. We got a solid 2.5 hours out of a full charge with five devices. I have not tested this with only one device, so it is possible that it does last as long as advertised. I chose not to remove a star for this because they didn't say the battery would last as long despite the number of attached devices. The bottom line is that, for long trips with multiple devices, you need to bring a good power source with you. We use the 12v outlet in our car with an adapter rated for the current this device requires (iPod chargers might not be strong enough - get something rated for iPads)When you first turn this on, it takes a few minutes before it can connect to your devices. Like your home router, it doesn't turn on like a light bulb. Give it some time before you conclude that it isn't working.We were able to connect to the internet through this device by connecting the drive to a mobile hotspot and/or our home wifi router. We did lose the connection to our mobile hotspot a few times, but I think that was a problem with the hotspot, not the drive.Overall, I am very happy with this. It does almost everything I want it to do and it is a pretty cool looking device. I have not tested this on any device that doesn't have an apple logo on it, so I can't vouch for other operating systems.

Interface app is a little clunky but the concept is bulletproof. If you need massive wireless storage, the Lacie is the current best choice. There is room for improvement, but that's really splitting hairs. I just wish there were several interface App options. All I need of my iPads is a media dump for backup. I don't need everything else. Maybe later, but not now so I don't want a busy App when I just need one simple tool.

I got the product right on time as promised and like it very much but only the package says it hold 10 hours of battery but it doesn't seems that way, other then that it is very useful and fun, and thanks again for the packing and getting it to me on time, defiantly do business again :)

Seagate purchased Lacie back in 2012, and the Fuel is pretty much a rebranded Seagate Wireless Plus. I also own a Wireless Plus and can use it for about 7 hours on one charge, but for some reason the Fuel while rated at 10 hours only last 4 hours! You would think the Fuel would get a better batter as its a little bigger than the Wireless Plus. One thing to note is there is a new version of the Seagate Media app for iOS 7, looks nice, but things are moved around vs. the old app. Lacie has also dropped the DC charging port found on the Wireless Plus, so it only charges via USB. I like that they did this as its one less cable to carry.PRO: Great way to stream movies to tablets, 2 TB of storage!CON: Poor battery life vs. Seagate Wireless PlusPlease fix the battery life issue, 4 hours is a joke when its rated for 10 hours!

This product Does not connect to any device only for a few seconds then crashes tried everything all the troubleshooting. the app for product is slow ,freezes and crashes waste 4 hours of my day not user friendly better off buying a MacBook if you need more hard drive space then I iPad has.

We love it. highly recommend it to anyone who travels with kids.

Totally unstable. Have never got it to work for more than a few minutes.
