The Chess Team Has NEVER Been Better!
What can you say about Jeremy Robinson's Jack Sigler/Chess Team novels...other than they freakin' ROCK. Savage not only helps to put an exclamation point behind that statement, but does so with as creative a story as I've seen come from Mr. Robinson--and that, my friends, is saying a LOT. Let's face it, I look for creative as well as entertaining stories to read, and few--and I DO mean VERY few authors have the seemingly endless well of shockingly awesome ideas that comes out time and again by this guy. Clive Cussler had it (I dare say he's all but lost it in the last ten years or so), so did Tom Clancy once upon a time, but we saw his writing go steadily downhill at a progressively rapid pace and yet over and over Jeremy seems to discover new and even MORE creative ways to propel a story forward at a dizzingly rapid pace. The Chess Team novels are an amazing triumph of that never-ending well of creativity attached to the back of a hyperdrive running at 110% capacity. Each novel is great and absolutely LOADED with action and adventure--and again, I don't say that lightly. I think of all the action/adventure authors I read regularly, only Matthew Reilly exceeds the action level of Robinson--that's pretty much it. And by the way that includes James Rollins, Cussler, Crichton and others. Trust me, he is in fine company if not a class by himself. Plus, he does it without sounding all cartoonish like Reilly's action sometimes tends to be.Savage has got it ALL. Nuclear weapons, ancient mysteries, and more action than you'll find it ALL the James Bond movies COMBINED. I won't rehash the plot as so many others have done already. I'll just give you my impressions of yet another adventure that is the reading equivalent of being launched off the deck of an aircraft carrier: Yet ANOTHER Winner from the mind of Robinson and Ellis. I don't know how much of the writing was one or the other, but the end result is the same: a sure fire entertaining juggernaut which can satisfy the action thirsts of any ten adventure enthusiasts--and THEN some.If you have yet to pick up a Chess Team/Jack Sigler novel--first of all, what the HECK are you waiting for??? I WILL say this though, if you plan to do so--and why wouldn't you, either start here, or at the very beginning. Savage is actually a good place to begin if you have never read any previous Sigler novels, but honestly, you're going to end up doing so anyway, so you may as well BUY this one, but then immediately go get ALL of the previous books and sit back, relax, enjoy and repeat. You can thank me later.

Not the best in the series, but still worth your time and money
“Savage” is the newest book in the Jack Sigler / Chess Team novels by Jeremy Robinson. It’s about a secret hidden within the African continent. With instability in the government and multiple interested parties looking to get their hands on the wealth and power that would come from this secret, our beloved Chess team is called in to help handle the situation. In the process, as with any Jeremy Robinson novel, action and adventure ensue. What I loved about the book is that Robinson – maybe for the first time, has made sure we understand that moving forward in the series no one is safe….not even main characters. While that’s somewhat heartbreaking, it’s also the only way to build real suspense and tension. So I applaud Robinson for being willing to walk down that path with the future of the series. Aside from that, I felt this book was somewhat lackluster in comparison to the a lot of the other books. King (the new much older King) is still coming to terms with who he is and what that means and because of that feels a little distant and not quite as connected in this story. The rest of the chess team characters still feel strong in their roles and their individual stories continue to develop. My other slight complaint with this book versus the others is that the villain is a much weaker character than previous foes we’ve encountered. She seems card board and one dimensional. Even her eventual dispatch is handled very unceremoniously.I did enjoy the book. It is after all a Jack Sigler novel, and it’s worth your time and money to read. But it’s not the best in the series by a long shot. But again, I give Robinson major props for being willing in this one to not give us the happy ending. Nice job.

From the Description:For more than a hundred million years, the Dark Continent has kept a savage secret. While on the trail of a stolen tactical nuclear weapon, Jack Sigler, callsign: King, and his black ops Chess Team, answer a cry for help. As the team, unfettered by political constraints, deploys across the globe, the threats spin out of control.A search for the Congo’s missing president becomes a quest to solve a century old mystery, and uncover a secret that powerful men will kill to protect. A mission to rescue a team of scientists from violent revolutionaries devolves into a desperate run through the jungle, pursued by both modern man and ancient beast. And the effort to stop a revolution becomes a brutal contest, pitting King against the most cunning and sadistic foe he has ever faced—a deadly mercenary known as the Red Queen.King has traveled around the globe and across time to protect the people he loves. Now, he must face a harsh truth: he cannot save everyone.Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis, the bestselling team of The Brainstorm Trilogy and Prime return with an action-packed tale rivaling the best of Matthew Reilly and James Rollins. Savage is a fresh re-launch for Jack Sigler and the Chess Team, so if you've never tried a Jack Sigler thriller, this is the perfect point to jump in and enjoy the chaos. And if you're a long time fan, welcome back, and prepare yourself...I have been a huge Chess Team fan since I read the first book in the series. Savage has the Team spread out trying to save the lives of millions in the Congo from a megalomaniac called the Red Queen. The story is fast paced and leaves the reader holding their breath on the edge of their seat. With nods to Jules Verne and Jurassic Park this book is full of all the things I've come to love about a Jeremy Robinson thriller. There are soo many things I want to say about this book but I don't want to give anything away!! I finished the last page by exclaiming out loud NO! I can't wait for the next thrill ride! Do yourself a giant favor and grab this and the rest of the Chess Team books today. A thrilling, breathless 5 star read.

Outstanding!
I seriously wonder how this series of novels can become more taut, tension-filled and downright spellbinding. Every time I think it can't get more interesting or they Must be running out of ideas I'm pleasantly surprised or outright astounded with the next Chess Team novel. Please keep them coming Mr Robinson, Mr Ellis and your other great co-authors!!

sci-fi action
Basically this story is sci-fi action with more action and political plots than science-fiction.I took away one star since I found a few typing mistakes and the ending was a bit of an anti-climax for me.Considering everything this is a good story if you are searching for escapism I think.

Excellent Read
Awesome read yet again for the Chess team. Jeremy has continued to excel with the series and evolution of the characters. Some great twists and turns and a classic ending. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and cannot wait for the next in the Chess series, or any other book from Jeremy for that matter !
