A cost effective wireless floodlight solution for weather proof blink cameras
Purchased for £34.99 back in July and have been using it for a good few months now.Was easy to mount on the front of my garage with the provided fitting kit. Everything needed was included (rawl plugs, screws, mounting plate etc) and within 10 minutes I had the plate fitted, battery pack plugged into the camera and everything subsequently mounted.Reliable, effective range for both floodlight and detection is about 8-10 metres. Beyond that, even with the detection triggering and floodlight kicking in it's not sufficient to light up objects and people clear enough to make out in detail. Arguably though 8-10 metres should be more than sufficient.Works seemlessly with both exisitng cameras and the blink app. A bonus is if you're a long-time user of blink (with the original gen 1 XT weather proof cameras) you can retain access to the cloud storage and / or use the USB storage option if buying the newer style outdoor cameras (which I did in addition to this floodlight).Happy with the floodlight though 3 months on, no complaints.

Light bright and easily controllable.
I bought this to put in my backyard with an existing blink camera. It does need installing and unless you have plastic sidings then you will need to drill holes. It came with 4 batteries in it. I don't know if they will last as long as they claim but I suppose that depends on how you use it. It was simple to link to the camera and automatically links to the blink app/wifi.It can be controlled from the app and the length of time the lights are on for, the brightness and sensitivity can be altered. The light can also be turned off altogether but cannot work independently from the camera. All in all I am pleased with my purchase.

Almost brilliant.............
I've had a number of Blink cameras for some time now and I must admit that I'm a bit of a fan.During the day the outside cameras record decent quality colour video. At night however its a different story. In darkness the cameras use an IR transmitter and sensor. The images obtained are in monochrome, poorly detailed and have a ghostly quality to them. You can see there is someone there but you can't really see the persons face. When the Blink camera floodlight came out I was keen to buy a couple. When you take the light out of the box it has a reassuring quality feel to it. The lights are badged "Beams" and so I suspect they are made by the same company as the "Mr Beams" lights. It is important to note that the light is only compatible with the latest Blink outside cameras. Older XT and XT2 cameras do not have the interface socket required to connect camera and light. The light is supplied with duracel batteries already installed but you must remove the strip of plastic that insulates the battery contacts before use.The light has a short lead that plugs into the camera body. Plugging the lead into the camera is a bit fiddly but you know when you've done it because the Blink app announces that connection has been made. The cameral attaches to the light using the standard Blink "snap" fitting. I'm not a big fan of this fitting which seems to me quite fragile. I suspect that a fall of 3 metres onto concrete will not improve my £80 camera. Also note that although you can move the camera to some degree the range of movement is quite limited. The first light was fine but I noticed an issue on the second one. The outer insulation of the connection cable was not moulded into the plug properly. You could see the thin inner wires where there was a small gap. I was concerned that the thin inner cable might snap or that water might get into the camera. In the end I covered the cable end and socket with insulation tape. Not something you would expect to have to do on a brand new item.Installing the light on the wall was a bit of a faff. The supplied bracket has 3 screw holes which are the same diameter as the screws. The margin for error when drilling the holes in the wall whilst balancing on a step ladder is very small !Having got them installed the lights work very well and the video recordings obtained are much better quality than using the camera on its own.All in all I'm really pleased with the lights which I would consider to be very good. With a few design changes they could have been brilliant.....

The perfect companion to camera
I wanted a good floodlight and found this solution that could work with our blink outdoor camera: couldn’t have asked for better. It I had great integration in to the blink app to allow you to adjust settings, turn on or off and adjust brightness. It can use the camera for motion detection and so works really well with each other. The brightness of the light can be adjusted up and down and even on half brightness, it is really bright and offers a lot of illumination. I cannot see how you could do better if you are looking for an integrated option

Useless if your Blink camera does not detect movement
I would give the whole range of blink products a no star rating if I could.I have tested the floodlight, 3 outdoor cameras and the doorbell with the module 2 for 6 months and the product is terrible. 1st off the floodlight only works off of movement from the camera it is connected to, in my case above the garage but the camera cannot get a good wireless signal so it fails. the router is only 10 metres away. I set up a wireless booster in the garage but still had major problems with connectivity.Factory setting for the camera is 5 but needs to be highest setting to detect anything (10). At 5 it wont detect anything more than about 6 - 8 feet away. If you bump up the camera setting the batteries go flat real quick and you are up and down a ladder changing them.I tried many locations for the module and router with no improvements. All 3 of my Blink cameras had the same problems. Also the Blink door bell has terrible lag, person at the door thinks you are not home as it takes at least 15- 20 seconds to ring in your house. Also normal alerts to tell you someone is near your property sometimes take 10 minutes to come through to your app, and if you try to view on the app when its busy you get a blank screen.....all in all just a really bad system by Amazon Blink...sold all the kit on ebay as could not return.
