MECCANOBoys 3 Models Set 2-in-1 Plane Building Kit

My husband purchased this item for a 9yr old boy who is autistic. As with old children and adults with disabilities the have hidden talents that provide them with a means to be self-supporting. In this case this child has both artistic and mechanical dexterity skills that enable him to overcome his disability. This mechanical set is similar to the erector sets my husband purchased as a child. This enabled to use his mechanical skills to overcome his attention span with hyper active disability. He is now a retired military veteran with 18yrs service & 40 yrs as a Master Journeyman Auto Tech. We recommend this mechanical kit to everyone desiring to develop their mechanical skills.

My 7yr old loves building stuff and may be slightly ahead of his age at this kind of thing. He loved building this - it was his first experience with Meccano...

I noticed the description said both metal and plastic parts, but I'd point out that the majority of the parts are plastic. If you take a very close look at the zoomed in picture you can tell what is plastic and what is metal. I was really hoping for a quality metal product, so I am a bit disappointed. That being said, the instructions are clear and hands-on building was great for my daughter. Age 8 and above is appropriate.

Christmas gift for our 9 year old son who loves to build or assemble ANYTHING. He and my husband built this together and he loved it.

With my love for airplanes, this was another addition to my collection. Nice looking and strong after assembled.
