Insanely good! Best book I’ve read this year!
John had me at the prologue! What a fantastically written, dark and chilling book this is. I’ve concluded that the darker the better and I’m slightly worried as to what that says about me! 🤣Mia and Finn are in love and want to find their forever home, especially Mia as it means she won’t have to live in the annexe of her ‘monster’ in-law’s home any longer. Soon they find themselves the proud owners of an old derelict house, it needs a lot of work done before they can move in, but then it’ll be theirs for keeps.Except they never actually get to move in! Whilst renovating one of the bedrooms a creepy message etched into the skirting board leads them up to the attic. What they find up there is enough to give anyone nightmares and Mia and Finn’s lives are never quite the same again!Wow, what an incredible book! I devoured all 369 pages in just 2 days and feel like I’ve only just come up for air after releasing the breath I didn’t realise I was holding! (Avid readers will like what I’ve done there!😉)With more twists than a helter-skelter, this story will have you hooked from start to finish. I don’t remember the last time I read a book so quickly nor one that left me with such a dry mouth! A – because my mouth was constantly agape 😮 and B – because I was so engrossed I kept forgetting to have a drink! 🤣I’ll be raving about this book for a long time to come and I encourage any fans of psychological thrillers to give this one a go. I warn you it’s not for the faint-hearted, but it is expertly written, harrowing yet brilliant and totally unputdownable!

Disturbing chilling thriller
Keep It In The Family by John Marrs🧸🧳🏠🪜🔎📰🚔8/10 ⭐️Mia and Finn buy their first home together, when starting renovations they discover a haunting secret hidden in the attic.20 years ago - what I am doing saves these children from a future, I could not.Is John Marrs OK? 🥺 another haunting and disturbing read but gosh does he know how to keep you gripped! Multiple POV, travelling across past and present timelines, this book is constantly moving and keeping you in suspense. This one was very triggering and I even messaged a book buddy not long before the end in fear of a suggested ending, my heart was racing and I felt so uncomfortable, it could’ve been a DNF at 90% but I know John Marrs and his twisty turny stories so soldiered on and I’m glad I did. This one literally kept me up at night and I’m glad that’s it over, it a good way, so I can move onto something else to distract my mind and hopefully sleep again 🥲 a great read and only not 5 star because it messed me up so much 🫣TW ⚠️ child kidnapping, child murder, murder.Disclaimer - I’m not usually sensitive to books and murder etc but since becoming a mum, books about child kidnapping and murder/abuse just kill me. I sympathise and feel the pain of the parents and it’s torture but I think that’s also the sign of a good author to make it feel believable and shocking like it’s real life. Well done John, you’ve done that multiple times 👏🏻

Better than expected
Really good book! Kept me hooked and read within a day. I thought this would be a simple, easy book but it is so much more!!! Very good twists within and explains everything unlike some books that can leave unanswered questions

Very addictive
This was one extremely addictive thriller but a very traumatic one so not for the faint hearted. It's a very disturbing storyline but the characters are well written and keep you wanting to continue. First book of this author that I've read and will definitely read more but absolutely need to read something nice after this as an still in shock.

The darkest John Marrs so far
Keep It In The Family is about a family who seem to do anything to keep their secrets (of which there are many) hidden by any means necessary!I really enjoyed this book, and as with all the John Marrs books I have read, the pages kept turning, and I read it quite quickly. This is the darkest book that that I have read from the author, and there should be some trigger warnings as it is regarding child abductions and killings, however if im honest it's not my favourite from his collection. Whilst there were plenty of twists and turns, I often found some of them predictable, although some were still shocking.I would recommend reading this book and it is one of his newer books, however I would strongly recommend some of his Other books such as "What Lies Between Us", "The One" or "Passengers" to name a few!Overall, it is a good page turner with twists and turns from different character perspectives that will make you devour quickly.

Wow
Imagine a world where family ties could become a tangled web of deceit, secrets, and unexpected twists! John Marrs delivers just that in Keep It in the Family, a captivating saga that had me turning pages faster than I could brew my afternoon tea.At the heart of this gripping tale is the peculiar notion that our loved ones aren’t just those we share blood with. Marrs ingeniously explores how chosen families can often be more complex and intriguing than the traditional ones. With characters that leap off the page, each with their own hidden agendas, I found myself rooting for some and gasping at others. The interplay of dark humour and suspense leaves you chuckling one moment and gripping your seat the next. It’s the perfect blend of intrigue and heart, with enough plot twists to keep even the most seasoned thriller fans on their toes!So grab your comfiest blanket, a cuppa, and dive into this familial whirlwind—don’t blame me if you find yourself checking your own family tree for hidden surprises! 🌳🔍Highly recommend for anyone craving a deliciously twisted read!
