Ancestor of the modern air fryers, instead of a heating element it has something like a circular light bulb -halogen light- and also wind and it works like a small convection oven. Food needs to be flipped if cooking a large piece of meat or chicken since the hot side is on the top -like most air fryers-. Huge capacity -double than an air fryer- to clean it you need to just wash the bowl -maybe one can use slow cooker liners but never tried. It broils nicely, it makes fantastic steak and hamburgers -almost like gas bbq- but it has its limitations, baking larger things would be challenging because baking needs hot bottom too, or "fried eggs" that would be crispier on top but is anyway quite versatile. As in an air fryer, the grease drips to the bottom and in a large size like this one is not a smoke issue like with a regular air fryer if it is some excess of grease, so food is healthier.A con is that they don't seem to last too long, at least the halogen bulb, maybe a couple of years, but as far as I know one can replace it and are replacements for sale at Amazon but never tried. For this price, I just buy a new one and sometimes save the glass bowl to have a replacement.We have this and a Cosori dual blaze and use them both all the time. No more oven!!!ALMOST like an air fryer but for a very low price.

This works really well and does not heat up your kitchen.

These halogen based ovens are primarily made by the same OEM Intertek and sold under different names. I've had 2 others in the past. One lasted 5 years and the latest lasted only 2 years. This model currently has a few enhancements including a detachable power cord and a lighter glass bowl. The previous bowls were heavy and it was hard to wash it by hand at the risk of dropping it.I like the functionality of these ovens v. the air fryer types. Especially with the expansion rings so you can cook large items like a ham, large turkey breast, etc.A few tips for (hopefully) extending the life of the unit:1) When not in use, don't close the top handle completely. My previous unit's little push in power button on the back likely wore out and some dyi fixes only temporarily worked2) When cleaning the underside of the lid, don't spray anything directly. Spray it on a cleaning towel or sponge and then wipe it down. Getting anything on the halogen bulb can decrease its life.

Almost as good as the New Wave I had but way cheaper!Update: 3/18/24I really liked this oven, it cooked as well as the New Wave I had before. And I liked how easy it was to clean.Sadly it stopped working after only eight months. (Bought in July of 2023) At first I thought it was the Halogen element that burned out and could be replaced. But on researching the problem it said that if it was the element, when it was turned on the fan would work but not the element.Well when I turned it on, nothing worked. So it wasn’t just the heating element.The New Wave I had before lasted about ten years before it quit, so I felt I got my money’s worth out of it.When I called the phone number that was on this page, the person said it was the wrong number because they were just a food manufacturer and had nothing to do with the Oven. So I called Amazon Customer Service. I’m happy to say that Amazon gave me a refund for this product, but I’m reluctant to take a chance on buying another one.

I love this unit.I've already cooked chicken, cake,and roasted vegetables!My much more expensive unit finally quit working. It was 12 years old.It's summer and this unit will not warm up your kitchen like a regular oven or cooker. Is selfCleaning. Just add a little water.I add several drops of dish washing liquid.With this unit it can cook all your favorite dishes in a matter of minutes.Some buyers complained about temperature and time settings bc they were too small to see. I marked with a permanent marker and a clear tape. Problem solved!I recommend this unit. My first unit was pricy. This one less thanFirst unit,less than half that price.Always remember to keep out of children's reach and observe all safety recommendations.So simple to use. The directions and recipe book(few pages), has great recipes.Put the food on the proper rack,put temperature, put timer in use! It does all the work.When the bell rings, food is ready!!!!!

These sort of air fryers seem superior to the more common metal coil ones. The extra space and good air circulation just seems like a complete win compared to the other type.
