Q: Can anyone provide a width measurement? I need to verify that it is wider than my shoulders for medical reasons. Please and thank you.

I measure it as 17.5 inches for the diameter. The brim slopes down almost to my shoulders. I have fairly wide shoulders for a women and it comes almost covers my shoulders.

Q: Straw or polyester? Some colors (light grey and army green) say straw. The others say polyester? Which is it?

This is polyester. I bought black and light Grey. Both polyester.
