Really good day bag or hand luggage item
I bought the 22l version to use as hand luggage item as travelling with camera gear really can be a pain for the amateur photographer especially in regards to economy luggage allowances and sizes.Features:-Removable Camera Insert bag: The bottom compartment can be easily removed and the internal dividing section folded flat so you can use the bag as a regular back pack. It's very convenient and I'm certain I will get a lot of dual purpose use from the bag when I'm not using to carry camera equipment.-Quick Access Panel: The lower portion which contains the primary camera storage section can be easily accessed even when worn. Whilst keeping the waist strap clipped remove your shoulders from the straps and simply twist it round to your front and unzip to access your lenses, camera or other gear. It's not lightening fast or anything but it's a functional and useful feature. Keep in mind you'll also need to undo the chest strap too.-Weather Cover: Right at the bottom of the bag is a compartment that contains thee weather cover. When I tested it it worked well and water didn't penetrate or saturate the fabric. However I does not cover the entire bag and leaves the portion that sits flush against your back exposed. I think it would be just fine for the odd short rain shower but in the heavy stuff rain will run down you'r back and as such I wouldn't recommend it without at least sealing the interior camera section in with the landscape togs best friend, a large polythene bag.-Secondary Top Compartment: This is buy far the best feature of the bag in my view. The majority of bags like this are all camera divider sections top to bottom. This one has space for other things you might want to take with you. If I'm on a day trip somewhere I'll throw a clean pair of clothes a toothbrush and then I've got the option of staying overnight If I fancy it. It's nice to give yourself a bit of freedom without worrying having to worry about bringing another bag. The flexibility of this bag is something that I really like.-Straps: The shoulder straps and handle are solid even when loaded with heavy gear, I've no worry as to their durability. It has both a chest and waist strap. It's not why I'd personally go out and buy it however as they aren't really major selling points but more of a handy after thought on the manufactures behalf. Whilst they do the job just fine If you are looking for things like padded waist and chest straps then there are probably better examples of that out there more suited to your needs. For me It doesn't really factor heavily in my rating as I'm not really doing stuff like climbing or mountain biking wear that it may be a lot more helpful. The latest revision of this bag may be a better featured product for you.- Storage: Internal pocket, split front pocket ideal for tablets, removable internal. side pockets good for water bottles or flasks. You will be able to fit a 15'6 laptop in the main bag with the camera bag still inserted. It will be a very snug fit but I got my Acer in there that way and I've really happy with it.In fact being able to bring a laptop without having a huge form factor bag was a major reason for me buying this one. I can't speak for the 16l as I think it may be just to small for that but the 22l is just fine with it.-Build Quality: Very well made, the stitching and general construction of the bag is great with minor point deduction for the waist and chest strap which although are entirely functional could have been better designed as previously stated This is a genuine product with tags. I got mine from MemoryC. I can't attest to other market place sellers here but I will say that there are a lot of fake Lowepro bags out there other especially on a big unnamed auction site. You can expect a slightly lower price for this particular model bag as a newer version was recently released but not as cheap as you'll see them knocking about for. The old adage still holds true "If it's too good to be true it probably is".Pros: Well made, spacious, flexible, a fantastic intermediate size, comfortable.Cons: Lack of a place to properly attach a tripod. You can get a gorrila pod on the side pocket but don't expect this to take some more serious. I'm sure you could jury rig a classic bungee cable and gaffer tape solution but there's some sort of compromise to be made with these types of bags.Overall:I'm very happy with this bag and am really pleased with with it in terms of function quality and performance.

great day trip bag for enthusiasts
I bought this backpack for my Canon 5D Mark III. Delivery was excellent-they made sure I got it before Christmas. I should say that if you're thinking of buying this you need to be aware that it's on the smaller side of backpacks. I don't mean like the size of a child's one, but the sort of size your backpack would be for going to the gym rather than going backpacking. In the special padded compartment that holds the camera itself, I can get that in but only if it's on the standard 55 mm lens. Any longer lens probably wouldn't fit, although you can adjust the Velcro walls that protect it so it's possible I could have got something a little longer in with some effort. But personally I think it's the right size to put the camera in with the basic lens attached and then I would use one of the other pockets to carry the zoom lens in its box. There is room enough to carry zoom lens and two small ones elsewhere. On each side there is mesh for a water bottle which is handy. And if you don't have extra lenses in the other pockets, there's plenty of room to put say a packed lunch. There doesn't appear to be anything to fix a tripod on to, but I'm not sure I would use that feature anyway. I did use the waterproof cover in pretty heavy rain-it just pulls out from the bottom where it stores itself as flat the rest of the time - and that worked perfectly. So I would say if you're a professional and you have loads of lenses and tons of kit, this is not the bag for you. But if, like me, you want a backpack that isn't heavy that has enough room to be able to carry your camera with the standard lens and one extra lens for a day trip say around London then this is brilliant. It's also very comfortable on the shoulders and has a little bit of padding in the back, so although my neck and shoulders were injured recently, even I could wear it walking around London with the camera and one lens and a few other bits and bobs in the bag and I was perfectly comfortable. It's an excellent bag for carrying what you need for a day trip of photography, but not big enough for if you're taking everything you have say on holiday or to a professional shoot. Seems pretty robust so far and well-made. also, the compartment for the camera itself is touching your back the whole time, so you feel safe even with a very expensive camera that people can't just reach in and steal it, although the other pockets are exposed.

Lowepro Photo Hatchback 22l AW Bag for DSLR Camera
I'll try not to repeat what other reviewers have already said about this product, but for what it's worth these are my observations:-1) I don't think there will ever be the 'perfect' camera backpack - everybody's requirements are different but for me (this is my third backpack in as many years) it comes very close to ticking all the boxes.2) I've found it's best to avoid getting a bag that's too small, I'm glad I opted for the larger 22l model - better to have a bit too much room than too little.3) Having used a 'slingshot' backpack (where there's only one camera strap that goes over one shoulder and across the chest) I found I was getting lower back pain and also pain to my hip on the side the strap went over my shoulder. IMO these backpacks don't distribute the load evenly, which when you look at the design seems evident as the load is on one shoulder. I haven't experienced these problems with this backpack.4) You can carry a tripod - when collapsed my tripod leg length is 26cm and it very neatly and securely slides down one of the mesh side pockets (2 legs in the pocket and one out).5) The raincover is big enough to go over the bag with my tripod and and other things which bulk the bag out - a plus point as others I've had only fit when nothing protrudes from the bag.6) All in all it's a well thought out camera bag (as you'd expect from Lowepro). The materials appear good quality and durable. I'm pleased with my purchase.

This one hit the spot
Had this bag in pepper red for just over a year. It's only been lightly used, and hasn't shown any defects.I suppose it's a bit of a gamble with what you can get in in reality, but it met my expectations. As a cabin bag, it held my Canon 760D with lens hood attached, Neewer timer, filters, batteries (AA and spare camera batts.), cleaning cloth, note book, three phone and battery chargers, and all this in the back lumbar pocket. The top section easily took a light jacket, book, glasses, pen, bits and pieces. And still there was room for a laptop, gloves, whatever. And the sections are alterable with plenty of interior pockets. For hiking out humping a tripod as well, it's light enough, and comfortable, having plenty of adjustment. And looks good.Overall, this one hit the spot without any trial and error.
