Nice upgrade to cheaper models.
I got this to locate studs through siding to install two door canopies. I first located the studs on the inside wall, and then tried the outside wall. Worked great on the inside wall, but only located half the studs on the outside wall, which is understandable, since it had to penetrate vinyl bevel siding, 1/4" foam and 3/4" pine wood siding, over the studs. Much easier and more accurate to use than normal locators with one sensor, so it's worth the price. I couldn't justify paying even more to get a more sensitive type of locator.

Comparatively Good. Not great.
There is no substitute for X-ray vision. It works very well on simple walls with spaced studs and plasterboard. However, if you have a unique structural wall, it will be a head scratcher no matter what you do. In this case you will need, 1) this detector, 2) some knowledge of the wall and construction techniques, 3) sensitive finger knuckles for a lot of wall tapping, 4) long finishing nails to tap in on each side of a stud to confirm its location, and 5) and endoscope to see in the wall. It is still my preferred detector even when the wall is messy inside (gas and water pipes, remodel cover-ups like window framing in the wall, unusual framing because of a bathroom shower on the flip side of the wall, etc.). It can at least positively confirm that there is an unusual structure beneath the surface. Confidence in a bad situation is good guidance too. This is my go to detector.

Greatest improved stud finder every made
May be the greatest improvement of the stud sensor that has been made since we went from the little twirling magnet to the battery version. I have at least 3 different stud finders that I have tried to find one that will actually find the studs, much less the center. This one is so easy to use that anyone, even unexperienced people can use it. It is a great improvement in the field of stud finding.

So easy: slide along the wall and watch 3 lights track the stud you're passing by
It is easy to use, and gives more more reliable results than my knocking on walls and listening for the hollow echo. It's earned its place in my tool bag.The only problem I have had: it can't read near a corner because the tool is so wide it can't get into the corner (for example, when looking for studs in a closet to hang shelves).

Works soo much better then the other ones.
I bought this to replace a well known brand of stud finder that was actually impossible to use. Everything would trigger it and AC was present everywhere. I literally stuck a flex camera in the wall to verify and as expected there was no AC or pipes anywhere despite what the stud finder was reporting. This one on the other hand works great, it finds the discrepancies instantly and very accurately. There’s no AC detection which I like because it doesn’t work anyways. Besides, anytime something goes through a stud there should be a metal plate affixed to the end of the stud that should clue you in.

This is the one you've been looking for
My old stud finder got lost in the move, so I picked up a cheap $20 one at my local big box store. After it beeped in 73 different places all over my wall, I ended up with a dozen 'test holes' trying to find a stud. Sound familiar? I returned that one and decided to try the $30 version of the same brand (the only brand this big box store carried, and was actually a 'sponsored result' on Amazon when I came here looking) and ended up with the exact same result on the second wall of shelves I put up. I decided to return that one as well since it was worse than useless (I won't mention the brand name, but it rhymes with "Sircon")With my project list growing and my knuckles getting sore from looking for studs that way, I decided to try one more time with the Franklin ProSensor. All I can say is 'wow... finally' - this thing is 4 for 4 so far on finding studs. I even tried it on the same wall that my previous finders had so much problem with and it nailed it every time. One time a couple extra lights fluttered, but I scanned it again and got the three lights I was looking for. Finally, one that works! This one won't tell you if it's metal or wood. It doesn't beep when it senses electric in the wall. It doesn't scream "Edge!" at you when it thinks it's found an edge. It will tell you right where a stud is though, and that's what I want in a stud finder. Put your mark on the middle of the three lights you should have showing, and that should be center.

Works well, feels cheap, display isn’t great.
Works great, but feels cheap especially when it sells for $50. Doesn’t come with a case, but there are 3rd party ones available on Amazon. Also the LEDs bleed into each other’s windows, making reading more difficult than it should be.

Where of you been all my life!
I purchased this unit to complete a project that I was planning. I’m so happy I went forward and purchased it regardless of the price. It’s very easy to use and quite accurate. Simply slide it along the wall and the three lights allow you to see exactly where your studs are. I’ve tried it on metal and wood studs on two different occasions and had the same results. I recommended it to my brother who works in construction and he plans on purchasing it as well.

Easy to Use
Very good for locating studs or other fixtures inside walls. I have another one (yellow) that gave good service but unfortunately I didn't remove the batteries when I stored it so they leaked and damaged the connections and possibly the circuit. Why I bought this one was I needed a stud finder and can't repair the original one.

Helpful tool with some shortcomings
It just works, although:1) inside of a joist can be located, but edges can only be located +- distance between indicators2) it struggles with double joists3) it struggles near boxing built for ceiling fans/lights/receptacles4) it struggles to locate joists under 1" thick wooden siding
