Q: Do i need a plug adaptor to use this in the u.k.? will it work ok?

MIne is fitted with a standard UK plug 

No it doesn’t come with a handheld console. Just the unit that you plug in the tv. As shown in the picture.

Q: does this have the connection for wired controllers as many people have written that the wireless ones are bad.

It's not that bad.You should hold the controllers next to the console ,and it works perdectly.Only the cookie cutters are not satisfied.
