This definitely is High Power as the name indicates, and likely does travel 10,000 ft in air. But for using it as a cat's toy or presentation pointer, you'll likely blind the participants if you shine it at any highly reflective/white object.Any laser >5mW may not be legally promoted as a "laser pointer" or for "pointing purposes" in the United States. While I don't have a calibrated device to measure laser power output, just putting this next to a known 5mW green laser makes it very clear this device produces well in excess of the limit.

This laser light is very bright, it is well made, sturdy and easy to adjust its light patterns, battery life is good, I like it is rechargeable using a USB cable. Make sure to understand and follow your local laws before using it outside. I'd not recommend using it as a pet toy as it may cause harm to pets' vision.

It was working just fine for the first two months but then randomly stopped working. I've never dropped it or had any incidents where something would have caused it to malfunction. I figured at first it was just the battery but after replacing them it still didn't work. I reached out to the company but was ignored. I guess I'm out $10. Just wanted to give everyone that's in search of a green laser pointer a heads up to not waste their money on this one.

There are so many different settings for this, the hardest thing was to figure out how to use it. This did not come with directions, but I'm pretty sure we have it all figured out now. On one end, you remove the cap and can charge this via USB port. On the other end, you can remove the cap to make it a "pointer" with just one laser beam. It's a well-developed beam that can hurt someone's eyes if you intentionally shine it in someone's face. There IS a warning on the pointer for a reason! The beam will reflect on shiny surfaces as pictured above in one of my photos. I'm not sure what the hardened red stuff is inside the pointer, but I'm assuming it was some sort of glue and it doesn't seem to affect the pointer in any negative way. Now, leave the cap on and just turn the pointer on and it has the advertised 3-4 different settings that can cover a space well. Wiggle the light around and pretend to have a dance party or alien invasion (ok, that's the 5-year old's input). All in all, this is a fun purchase. I do not recommend it as a flashlight, no matter which setting you put it on. We tried that, it was deemed "annoying, just use your phone". The laser's distance is far...I didn't measure it, but you can get attention from someone across the street from you.

Hello Friends, I selected this laser pointer for my brother who is an outdoorsman.This is a perfect gift for a guy. The second my brother got it he could not stop playing with it for hours. It legit it reaches the sky. It is just like the laser pointers astronomy teachers have. With that said, there are a few things I feel obligated to tell you. If you ever aim this laser at law enforcement or an airplane you can be cited with criminal charges in the US. The laser has the ability to blind a person. Do not play around with it. It has a kaleidoscope feature. A little ring causes the laser to split into unique patterns. It would be really cool to use this at night with children in the yard. This particular one charges via USB. My brother is very pleased with the product.
