Twisted (Never After Series)

Spicy Aladdin retelling
Every ounce of feminism left my body whilst reading Twisted. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Julian Faraci is now my favourite Never After man, James sweetie I am so sorry 🥹Yasmin is a jewellery heiress and daughter of Ali Karam who is close to death following a cancer diagnosis. He wants to find a suitable husband for her before he passes to ensure his jewellery empire Sultans and daughter are protected. Julian is his right hand man and will stop at nothing to claim Sultans for himself. He devises a plan which involves forcing Yasmin to marry him in order to take what he believes is rightfully his. Yasmin however is in love with her childhood best friend Aidan but knows her father would never accept him and so she goes along with Julian’s plan to ensure her father is happy. From there we see intentions and trust shift from various characters…I didn’t really see Julian as a villain and I genuinely mean that as a compliment and not a criticism. He was a very misunderstood character with a traumatic past. And yes the same could be said about the other guys in this series but I didn’t even think Julian was that unhinged either. So he killed a few people to get them away from marrying Yasmin. You would do it too for an inheritance that doesn’t belong to you 🤭😂 ok jokes aside I just think he was kinda cuteee. Also he seemed the most ‘human’ out of the villains, whenever he felt guilt in his inner monologues I just saw this whole other side to him which I hadn’t seen in our previous villains until the end of their stories. Yasmin was a character I could definitely relate to, being an ethnic minority I too feel that I have to please my parents all the time and try not to step out of line to ensure their happiness comes first. She was not spoilt in my opinion, she didn’t choose her upbringing 🤷🏽♀️Also loved her bratty attitude towards Julian and his reactions to it, they balanced each other out very well.Every time Julian asked Yasmin ‘Are you mine?’ I hoped she’d say no so I could have him to myself and then I’d remember they’re not real 🥹

Enemies to lovers dark romance
A delightful reimagining of Aladdin. This dark romance follows the forced relationship of Yasmin and Julian, complications from her boyfriend Aidan, a search for a mystery lamp, struggles against unwanted suitors for Yasmins hand in marriage at her father's command, and twists and turns. An enemies to lovers dark romance.

disappointed..
I’ve read the first 4 books in this series.I just couldn’t get in to this one. I don’t know what it was. I’m disappointed because jafar and jasmine has always been my guilty pleasure! (No judgments here 😂)I liked maybe 60% of the book then towards the end I skipped over and skim read quite a lot. Even doing this didn’t take away from the story, so it felt like filler in a way.I liked Julian, but I wasn’t hot for him. I liked Yasmin, but she felt a little dense, and the ending made no sense to me! Like why would she do that when she doesn’t have any violence in her nature? Sempt bizzare to me.Defo bottom of the list in the series!

first dark romance
This was my first dark moment I went into it, feeling a little scared and nervous, but this had me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with Julian so much that it was crazy. This book made me laugh out loud. It made me cry, I felt so many emotions reading this book. I love Yasmine and ryia friendship. This is a 100% recommendation if you are starting to get into dark romance books.Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Julian is everything
The story was a bit meh in places to be honest, trying to fit in as many Aladdin references as possible was sometimes detrimental to the overall story. But Julian was the thing that kept me turning the pages when I thought maybe I didn't want to. That man makes it worth reading.

🖤
I am just loving this whole series, I can’t get enough they are all so different from each other and I don’t feel any deja vu reading each book as I would any other non connected series. These books shine so beautifully alone, and the whole series together is gold. Emily’s writing just draws you in!I’m really sad I’m nearly finished with this series. I’ve got just crossed to go, this has taken over my July and I couldn’t have been happier about it.

forced marriages / marriage of convenience are just going to do it for me every. single. time.
The 4th installment of this stand-alone series follows Yasim and Julian and let me say this book is amazing!!This book is inspired by Aladdin like always with this series I love all the Easter eggs. This book also has some of my personal favourite tropes with the age gap, enemies to lovers, and arranged marriage! I think after the halfway point this book really takes off and you won't want to put it down.

High Expectations
I think maybe my expectations may have been too high going into this. The first 250 pages were difficult to get through, and I found myself forced to read. It wasn't until the plot sped up and the character development came into it that I began to enjoy it.Julian is a GOD, no doubts there. But I think he deserved better than Yasmin. Overall, my least favourite from the Never After series, but cannot wait for Crossed to come out in August!

Perfect
This book was the best mix of fairy tail and romance. It takes a traditional fairy tale and turns it on its head in the best way possible. Thoroughly an enjoyable book and I just bought the rest of the series

A great read! Julian us wondeful!
What a fantastic read, I loved the dynamic between the two main characters and the overall storyline was done so well.I love a good enemies to lovers, add in an age gap and forced marriage-so so good! I’m such a sucker for the villain who has a soft spot only for her, and this was exactly how Julian was with Yasmin!Julian had such wonderful character growth, and man is he an easy morally grey character to fall for! I loved the small moments when Julian becomes vulnerable and lets Yasmin in. Yas was really good! The sass she gave Julian was perfection, she really loved to push his buttons. I enjoyed how she really came into her own, stepped out of her comfort zone, and was so much more than people saw her as or gave her credit for.The attraction they have for one another is so high, but they both hate it and all the feelings. It was fantastic watching them struggle internally with those types of emotions. This was definitely a slow burn, but worth every moment of the journey! This is such a wonderful series with a unique take and always a great read! I can’t wait for book 5.4.5 ⭐️

Dark but amazing
For a minute I thought the 2 MC's were never going to get along 😅 the back and forth combined with the hate for each other was so good at the start. With these books you know it will be dark and I honestly love that. I mean he has a giant ass snake that is really helping with... Stuff. Sold! HahahaThese books also read so smoothly and I always fly through them. Definitely enjoyed this one!
