Good vent fan
Purchased for my Sprinter camper van build. Installation was straight forward. Cut hole according to instructions. Orientate where vent opens toward back of vehicle. Bed in roof with butyl caulk. I didn't have to cut down interior finish frame, just popped on and screwed flush to my ceiling.I wanted a simple unit without extra things to break. This unit was best price for my needs. I like the smoked lid so I can see out the top. I like the screen to keep bugs out. It doesn't come with a remote. I didn't want one because I can't keep track of them anyway and have no problem reaching my van ceiling. The fan starts on exhaust every time you power it on. You have to switch it to "in" on lowest setting...and then once the direction changes can take it up to full speed to bring in fresh air. It isn't loud and doesn't disturb my sleep.I also like that it blends with my roof for stealth camping in cities.

Did not work out of the box, but:
So, I love the size of this, it is absolutely perfect for what I plan on doing. So, before making any holes, I decided to test it. I wired it up to my 12 volt system, and attempted to power it on. Nothing. No lights, no juice.I then thought for a second. Maybe the fuse was blown? No, but for good measure, replaced with one that was given as an extra.(super awesome that I had 2 instead of one!) Still, no juice! So, I sat, and thought for a few moments. Checked the voltage of the battery. Good to go. Fuse was good. And my brain, being a tinker kind of guy, saw that there were screw holes covered by white peel able stickers next to the button section. Now, I am no electrician, but, I figured, a look never hurt anyone. So I removed all the stickers, and screws. Gently pulled down the cover by the touch panel, and looked inside at the wiring.Wouldn't you know, a click on connector wasn't hooked up to the panel. So I clicked it on to the only place that it could go, reinstalled all the screws, but not the stickers in case I would have to take them out again, and reconnected it to the battery.Presto! It fired right up! How cool is that!I have to give it 4 out of 5 stars, simply because either it was a q.c. error on the companies part, or an issue from shipping that caused the connector to loosen off its receptacle. So, as it's being installed on a 4x4 that's going to get bounced around on washboard, I have the knowledge that vibrations will cause the issue, and if not, then it was a laxidazical q.c. process. Both, should be addressed, but in complete actuality, this Lil bugger now moves some serious air!

Works great QUIET!
I installed this last summer, and it ran continuously on low until fall. This spring fires it up, and it is still running great. The lift handle is kinda a pain, but I never close it. I have a campco cover over it and leave it open all the time. Not sure why Amazon says this is frequently returned, I am back for a second one.

Poor quality
The first unit installed well and worked for 3 days. Suddenly it would only blow air in and not vent out. I replaced the unit and the second one will not even turn on. I replaced the fuse like they said and nothing…I would not buy again

Great fan
I installed in a camper conversion. The assembly is well constructed and costs half or a third of the name brand fans. It’s super quiet. It has multiple speeds and is reversible. I am quite pleased with it. It doesn’t have automatic rain closing hoods and lights and other fancy stuff, but I can tell when it’s raining and need to close the cover, and I have lights, so all that is unnecessary IMO. It looks like a nice clean install with the included trim ring. I used butyl tape under the flange for a water tight installation on the roof. Would recommend.

Must have for a van
Nissan nv 200 minivan...I cut the square out of the roof, applied sealent with butyl tape, screwed in, spliced a wire so i could use it from my cigarette lighter power socket. Great to suck in cool air or to blow out hot air. Quiet fan motor.Quality build. Durable. Priced right.

Works!
Removed my tv antenna and cut a hole to fit this. Works perfectly. Definitely quiet even on #6 speed. 10/10 would buy again. Easy to install, easy to wire.
