An excellent Bible reference but not a traditional atlas.
This book is designed to be a book by book reference of the Bible not an atlas. Each book is presented in order. Authorship, dates of writing, theme and structure are all discussed. Each book is outlined. And there is a general discussion of each book. Maps and charts are included in the book discussion as necessary. There is an Intertestamental Period section that is basically a series of maps covering the history of the Greek, Assyrian, Babylonian, Roman and Persian empires during the years between the testaments. It is a very good reference. I would recommend a good Biblical atlas to go along with it. The maps included are good for the specific area covered in a book but each is limited in scope and too small to give the big picture.

Exceptional! I'm excited.
I can't wait to really delve into this book. No other commentary is needed. You don't even have to be having Bible study to use it, just the information itself that this book possesses is enough to keep your nose in there.

Buy the Kindle version
If you buy the Kindle version you can also get the ISBN number and go to a Nelson website (found in the book) where you can download all the images in high resolution. The book is beautiful :-)

Don’t get the Kindle edition
Great overview and reference for the Bible. Very helpful for anyone who wants a slightly deeper study tool, especially for context of the ancient world. However, I bought the Kindle edition first, and it is practically useless because all of the images, maps, and charts are terribly low-resolution. The title of the Kindle edition should be “Complete Book of Thumbnails of Maps and Charts”. Again, DO NOT be tempted to buy the Kindle version.

Purchased for the maps and charts
Advertised as having downloadable maps and charts for using in classroom environments. The url given in the book itself is incorrect but got a quick response from the publisher with a good url and was able to get what I wanted downloaded.

Another great book to add to my resources
A friend of mine recommended this book to me. I teach ladies' bible classes in our congregation and especially like to lead them into studies of geography and history. Bible Maps and Charts gave brief and helpful information that not only added to my ladies' classes but to my children's classes as well. Every book in the Bible is addressed briefly with an outline, summary and maps and charts that highlight the people and geography of the time. I recommend it highly!

Nelson's Complete Book of Maps and Charts
This is a really nice book, I haven't really gotten to read it and study this book. This is the first time I have purchased a book of Maps and Charts. However I feel it is really nice for my own personal use, to help in my bible study.

Very helpful
This is a very good book - concise, accurate and very helpful. However, the kindle edition is less useful because the charts are too small. Some are unreadable unless one displays them on a larger computer kindle app. It is not possible to enlarge them even to full page size on a kindle, which seems a shame, since many kindle books do allow this. I have had to buy the paper copy, as well as the kindle edition, because of this. The charts and maps are advertised as printable, but the kindle edition does not allow copying (as usual for a kindle book) and whereas the paper book can be photocopied, obviously the kindle book cannot. So the kindle edition is of very limited use. In due course, there will be tools developed which can break Amazon's new ebook format, allowing the files to be converted into pdf format and printed, but as yet this is not possible (as fr as I know). The book is actually very good, with relatively simple charts (compared with the Tyndale book of Bible charts) which are still analytical and full of very good content. There is also a brief introduction to each book which places the charts in context. I find this level of chart very useful for church Bible studies, where the listeners are of mixed ability and interest. The chart are also personally useful, focusing the mind and allowing one to build a good overview of each book. This book has been used by a website called Agape bible studies, which is Roman Catholic. Although I am an evangelical Christian myself, I find this website useful because the charts are printable. They are not exactly the same as this Nelson book, having sometimes been altered to reflect a Roman Catholic stance or the preferences of the writer, they are actually very good.

A good buy!
I great book to have packed with good solid information, the kind that I like. Good clear maps, concise summaries of various types and the ability to use in presentations etc that one might make as part of a ministry. I would recommend this publication to anybody that deals with teaching biblical truth in any shape or form.

great aid to bible study
This book is an excellent aid for any one who wants to understand the events and journey of any of the bible characters. It overviews each bible book, maps each event and helps you focus on salient issues and points out important information needed for you to grasp the intent of the writer

Excellent!
If you are thinking of reading the Bible for the first time or very familiar with it this is a great addition to your bookshelf. It helps to unfold the story of the Bile making good use of maps and charts. In addition on the back of the cover you are given the option to download the maps and charts at no extra cost. Highly recommended for adults and children alike.
