Convenient
Bought the 12 piece pets puzzle and the 12 piece dinosaur puzzles for my 2 year old puzzle mad daughter. What I LOVE About these ones is that it doesn't take much room and each puzzle had its on compartment inside the box, in addition each puzzle has a shape on the back so you can put them in their sets much more easily. I will definitely be buying more!!

Great Wooden Jigsaw Set in a Box
My daughter is jigsaw mad at the moment and so this box of four jigsaws is perfect for taking out and about with us to keep her amused if for example eating out somewhere and obviously it's perfect for at home too. My son who isn't as jigsaw bonkers as my daughter also loves it because it features dinosaurs and this is one of the only jigsaws he really is interested in.Each jigsaw has 12 pieces and when built they measure 11.8cm by 17.4cm each. There are four dinosaur designs; Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex and a yellow Apatosaurus/Brontosaurus and they are each made from wood which is approx 3mm thick. They each have a different shape on the back of their respective designs; circle, square, triangle and diamond to help identify them rather than having to try and work out which pieces belong to which design or of course this could be one way to make the jigsaws a bit more of a challenge for your child as they get older. They come in a wooden box which has four internal sections to keep the jigsaws separated and the box lid can also be used to build the jigsaws on too. Of course as with most wooden jigsaws there are a few sawdust and splinter pieces that come off the jigsaws on the first couple of uses and so I just built and re-built them a few times before giving them to my daughter which got all of the loose pieces off.I love Melissa & Doug toys and always turn to them rather than even ELC toys nowadays and as usual this is made to the normal high quality that all of my purchases of this brand have been. This set is brilliant and has saved us from having a bored child out at a restaurant so many times and is wonderfully made. I have no doubt that I will end up getting some of the other versions that are available in the near future and we also have the Farm Animals Puzzles too.

Exceptional
Just wanted to post a review because there were a few negative feedbacks against this item, like rough edges etc.The design first - as a lot of other reviews say these are very well thought out. The pieces fit together really well and you can pick up and move the completed puzzles without them falling apart. Love that you can assemble the puzzles on the lid, this helps my 2.5 year old understand where the edges and corners go. The construction machinery is also a massive hit with him - lovely illustrations. The quality of this item is exceptional. The edges are all very well smoothed with no risk of splinters for small fingers. Not sure if other buyers got theirs from different sellers or something... always go direct I guess?Value is also incredible. At £2 per puzzle you really can't go wrong, you're doing well to find cardboard puzzles at that price and this will last far far longer. I'd happily pay double for this!

Strange
I'm surprised by all the five star reviews. My son does really like it but he just loves everything with dinosaurs so that was a given really and I think he also likes the box idea as that's new for him but otherwise , quality is not great. the backs of the jigsaw pieces are already chipping off. I've had the toy under a week and chipping started on day one. My daughter was scrambling the jigsaw together when taking apart which caused it but I don't expect children will be ultra careful to separate gently and I think that is what it will need to keep in good shape. I thought it looked flimsy when I first saw it and felt proven correct when it started chipping. The box reminds me of those crates you find in fruit n veg shops.I also think the puzzles haven't been thought out. There are any connective images between the pieces. I mean if two pieces that fit together have a tree and ...sky then it would be good to have a bit of tree in both pieces of the puzzle OR a bit of sky in both. But there is such an insignificant amount of shared imagery that it's not really noticeable until you've put them together (having used the picture) so kids aren't learning about the whole matching up of images which is what I thought jigsaws were about. AND there aren't any big pitures. Just the little ones on the side of the crate...I mean box. And if you are using the top of the box to do the puzzle on then how are you supposed to analyse those teeny images properly as a kid? Of course chances are, they'll do the puzzle a lot (with your help) if they're dino mad and know which pieces fit together pretty soon and not require help from u or the picture anymore. So on the whole, I'm not impressed with the quality or how well thought out it is.....oh wait Theres more! There's some splints sticking up in the inner sides of the box and so possibility of getting splinters. You wouldn't ordinarily if the box is used properly but if someone decided to run their fingers through the inside of the box for whatever reason, then they could do.But my son still really happy so I don't regret buying it but don't think it's worth the £10 I paid. 5 would be ok for that quality
