Worked for us!
My son is 4 and hates, HATES using the toilet. He's almost potty trained otherwise, in the sense that he knows when he wants to do number 1 and 2. He does number 1 on his own and is also great about not wetting the bed. Number 2 however, has been very troublesome. I'm not sure what it is exactly that scare(d/s) him so but getting him to sit on it and do his thing is akin to pulling a tooth. He doesn't have accidents though, whenever he needs to go he asks for a diaper and that's how we know he's ready to go. He has had a potty seat forever and so I decided to try this instead based on something a teacher told me. She said that some kids like or need to feel their feet on the floor or on something. My choices were to buy a kid stool in addition to another potty seat so he can use whatever potty he wants to, or buy this.Well, we got it and he used it once, though he did not do his thing. He sat for a while, got comfortable and decided he was done. He then promptly asked for a diaper and did his thing there. The next time he tried it, it was a bribe for a Rescue Bot and he did do something, but we could tell it was all out of nervousness and he didn't finish it up.I'm happy to say, I'm here finally writing this review (and also feeling pretty proud) because he finally took this thing and used the potty on his own last night. We sit this up at the side with the intent that when he needs to go, we'll take it to the powder room or the bathroom he's intending to go to, but it sits in the powder room because it's closet to the family/living room and is where we all sit to watch tv and eat dinner and such. Anyway, last night he called me to tell me he "did it" and it was completely on his own. So he moved it, opened it up himself, put it on the seat, got up on it and did his thing on his own. All he called me for was to help him clean up.So, yeah, this works or at least it worked for us. You know, he just could have been ready now, after all this time, but I think if we just had the potty seat, he wouldn't have been able to get up on it and try it like he did. If we had the stool+seat, it likely would not have been in a place where he could easily use them and he wouldn't have been able to easily move everything over. This is why I'm chalking this up to Spuddies.

Great gadget for potty training
Super easy to assemble, with very good quality material. It fits securely to the toilet seat lid, providing greater safety, and is extremely useful and functional.

Allows for complete (almost) independence
This isn’t our first rodeo with potty training, but it is our first using this type of potty. We’ve used the one that sits on the floor and the one where the seat attaches on top of the toilet seat with success. It really depends on your child’s readiness and personality! Our child showed an interest in sitting on the toilet prior to us training him, so he liked the set-up with this particularly toilet.-Putting together: if I can do it, anyone can. Seriously.-Fit: we have a standard Glacier Bay toilet and it fit perfectly.-Sturdiness: the underside does not clasp to the toilet, so the seat portion will slide ever so slightly not enough to be any issue at all. The entire thing is easy to remove which is important if others are sharing the same bathroom! The steps did not wobble a lot, if at all.-Performance: my small, almost 2.5 year old was able to use the steps and turn himself around to sit after only the third try. After the third day, he could step backwards to be seated. He is not the most agile, either so I’m truly impressed! The handles are so helpful for the climbing portion and when he is seated to make him feel comfortable. Others mentioned the splash guard not working, and I could see that as a potential issue if your child is pressed towards the front. However, it’s more natural to sit back, so they should get in the habit of that anyways.Price: Great value. I purchased for about $20 - cheaper than some of the other fancier ones out there that require you to dump and clean which, when I think about it now, just adds extra, gross work.I highly recommend this seat!

A bit wobbly but does the job
Our kids had to get used to it being a bit wobbly because it doesn't quite sit right on some of our toilets (better with the lid up on some, but still not a perfect fit.) That being said, I love the handles (which they use all the time, especially to turn themselves around after climbing up), the fold-ability, and it's easy to clean (although it doesn't seem to get splashed or anything.) Very easy to put together while following the instructions (parts are marked R (right) and L (left).) And a great price! This is the second one I've bought.

Buy it, just buy it!
Love this. My kiddo uses it daily. Started at 18months he’s now 30 months still using it. Folds down nicely, and easy to set up! It’s sturdy, and it’s nice quality plastic. I suggest this to anyone potty training, it even has the little cup for boys it’s perfect!
