Q: Is this like a big squishamallo pillow?

Not sure what that is, but it's a full size body pillow that somewhat contour to the body. Soft, yet firm. I stand 5'11, 250lbs, and I love it. I put it between my knees to relieve pressure.

Q: Packaging says leave in sunlight 48 hours, why???

So that it can expand to its full size and fluffines. Straight out the pack it expands from being shrunk, but will reach a max compacity and consistency after 2 days in sunlight. More firm afterwards.
