Basic but competent
This is a basic but competent TENS unit with 2 channels. Everything you need to get started is included in the compact box, including 4 2x2” and 4 2x4” pads with standard 2mm connectors, a belt clip, cables, and 3 AAA batteries. It works about as you’d expect for a TENS unit if you’ve ever gone through the experience at a physical therapist or similar establishment. It’s kind of amazing how affordable these things have gotten. There are a few points of friction that I’ll mention for the sake of thoroughness, none of which I consider dealbreakers or even necessarily actionable issues for the price:- The 22 supported modes are grouped into three categories, but I felt there wasn’t much difference between the categories. In other words, there’s no obvious reason why e.g. a TENS mode would work better than an EMS mode for a given session, or vice versa.- Switching between modes is more annoying than it could be because it requires turning both channels all the way down to intensity 0 first. Allowing mode switches at intensity level 1 or 2 (of 40) would have served just as well for safety.- Speaking of which, I have no idea how anyone would be able to tolerate intensity level 40. Maybe it’s necessary at the very end of the batteries’ runtime.- There’s no way to adjust the 30-minute shutoff timer that begins once you lock in a mode.- The number of included pads is sufficient for a few days at best, although compatible replacements can be quite cheap depending on how hard you look.- Some of the suggested placement locations in the manual don’t make sense, e.g. they show two black electrodes instead of one or more pairs of black and red.- Pushing buttons on the device and plugging in the various cables requires more manual strength than I expected, which will make operating it difficult for a large chunk of the population. This is the worst offense of the bunch and would merit a rating penalty in a more expensive unit.It also bears reiterating that improper use of a TENS unit can result in serious and life-changing injury, so it’s best to maintain a healthy respect for this thing no matter how mundane it eventually seems. Just saying.Overall, I consider this to be a good option for a TENS starter unit that doesn’t lock you into proprietary replacement pads. The cables may also be replaceable, although I’m not sure.

This is not a wireless unit.
The unit is easy to operate. The pads are very sticky which is good. I use additional water base jell for better conduction. A rechargeable battery would be a better option . I am disappointed that this is not wireless because that is what I was looking for. But I will be keeping this unit.

Great.
Works great. Same thing as PT will prescribe you. It’s a little weird feeling to get used to, but it does help relax muscles.

Affordable. Not many electrode pads
There are more complicated and expensive units out there, but this Vive TENS/EMS unit is affordable and works well enough for me.It's about 2 inches wide by 4.125 inches tall by .875 inches thick. It's smaller than what's listed in the seller's description. (It isn't 3 inches by 5.5 inches). It's plenty powerful. I can't use it above intensity level 10 - 15 because the stimulation is too much. I have no idea how anyone could use this on level 40!It has 2 channels for a total of 4 electrodes on your body. You receive 4 small pads and 4 large pads. You aren't supposed to cut them with scissors, according to the manual. I wish it had more electrode pads in the box, but there are enough to get you started. I didn't have any issues with adhesion or skin irritation when using them. The instructions are actually decent compared to others I've seen. Well translated and relatively comprehensible. They do contain suggested electrode locations for various conditions (carpel tunnel, sciatica, many others). That said, it's likely this will require some fiddling and figuring before you find the settings that work best for you.It requires 3 AAA batteries ( included in box). I use rechargeable AAA's with no problems. I've used it about 2 hours so far and the low battery indicator has yet to come on. It seems to have decent battery life.I wish it had a rechargeable battery and included more electrode pads, but as is this is a functional and affordable ($27) TENS/EMS unit.

Great for pain relief
This is a really effective and easy to use EMS unit. It comes with 4 square and 4 rectangles adhesive pre gelled pads. They are reusable and very easy to attach and remove. You can use them many times on different parts of the body. I mainly use them around my shoulders and neck after playing volleyball. The unit only needs 3 AAA batteries to operate, which last for a very long time. The intensity and mode is very easy to change and display works great. If you put the pads on the right muscles, your can immediately feel the comfort and muscle pain relief in the area. I had no issues with the device in the past 3 months.

Health Benefit
This tens unit is pretty awesome. To be honest, it took me a minute to figure it out. I read the instructions thoroughly and finally got it. When I say power…..this unit is powerful! It is small, but intense. I jumped when it came on, mainly because I didn’t realize the intensity and had it turned up too much. I’ve used the massage setting the most. My shoulders, lower back and elbow feel pretty good, I must say. It is very easy to use once you have everything plugged in. It also comes with a manual that shows images for placement of the pads. It also come with batteries, which is a plus. This unit is a 10/10.

Does the job; instructions not great
Use this for the Massage and the TENS pain relief features for my PT patients. It works as it should, but is a bit wonky as far as figuring out what the different programs do, as there was no explanation in the accompanying instruction manual. I did like the option of dialing in certain parameters for optimal outcomes for my patients. They only supply 2 sets of 2x2" pads and 2x4" pads, so I had to order more on my own, as they are not reusable across patients; for personal use, this would not be an issue for up to 10 uses, though.
