It works, but...you can make it better with a simple steel washer
The roll of thread would drag too much in one area. There was a nylon washer between the inside of the tool, but it was not as big as the spool of thread. Having it tight enough to apply tension would cause it to hang when it hit the high spot on the spool. Having it loose enough to not hang would cause it to too lose the rest of the time. I replaced the nylon washer with a bigger steel one and the dragging stopped. I can now get the proper tension on the thread. It read does make the job easier, but you shouldn't have to fix design problems in tools right out of the package.

awesome, cheap tool.....as far as a first timer is concerned.
even for a first timer like me, it gave a beautiful serving thread application...i was REALLY happy. just make sure you watch some videos on it, if you havent done it before!

Tension not steady
Difficult to use. the tension changes from too loose to too tight as you attempt to serve the stgring.

Very much worth the money.
You have to you around with it, and if you are new it will seem like trash at first. But after you get the hang of it, she works like a charm. Got the new center serving on my bow nice and tight.

Average
I've used this now to make about a dozen strings and it is about average. It doesn't hold steady pressure the whole way through one rotation of the spool. Seems like the washers that came with the serving tool are not quite even. However it gets the job done. Takes a bit of finesse to get it to serve evenly.

Eratic spool tension
Like most cheap units I have reviewed, this one has the same issue. It does not spool off the thread with even tension and the adjustment wing nut will not keep even tension. The spool itself wobbles within the bracket due in fact to the lack of better parts. one side has a nylon insert that fits into the spool the other side only has a single nylon washer. The side with a washer wobbles therefore the cause of the uneven wobble which causes uneven tension. If the manufacturer would have supplied the same nylon washer insert on both ends the spool would be supported both ends evenly and perhaps the next size larger bolt, this would most likely provide for better even tension. I would like to know where I could get this part to fix the unit myself or just return it for a better unit.

Thread good. Jig okay
The thread was nice. Seems like decent quality and hasn't had any issues after being on my bow for a week. The jig though isnt the best. The bolt and wing nut are both pretty low quality. That combined with the washers leads to unsteady tension. Wish there was a higher quality version available.

Inconsistent Tension
I find this hard to use because it doesn't apply even tension. At some points very stiff, then very loose, so I cannot spin it around quickly and I can't apply even tension to the serving.
