Playmobil 4041 Conveyor Belt with Mini Excavator

I have bought this as a gift so it hasn’t been opened yet but like all the other playmobil I have it is very sturdy and survives my preschooler’s love! The box was bigger than expected so I know there will be much excitement when it is up and running.

Great present idea

I have bought a lot of Playmobil and never been disappointed. I bought this set for my 4year old grandson who has not had his own playmobil before, but had showed interest in mine. It didn't take long to put together and he loved it straight away. The digger rounds up the 'boulders' and tips them into the skip - then you (or your grandson!) wind the wheel and the skip rolls easily up to the top and tips the load out so that the boulders go smashing everywhere. There is a cute, tiny tool box and a laptop which the two workers have to consult all the time to see what job to do next and sometimes they chase each other because they both want it at the same time. Once you have put on the stickers, you can pretend to control the operation with the coloured switches and lights. The string pulling the skip up and down didn't wind properly at first because it had stuck in the shape it had been folded in in the box and jumped off the wheel, but this soon settled down and gave us the opportunity for some educational explanations about the efficiency of winding on a big wheel as opposed to round its axle.

My grandson is a toy demolisher. I keep buying Playmobil now I've found they stand up to him. This conveyor was one of my first purchases and is more or less in as new condition. Also it is multi use, and having bought 'cargo world' playmobil for christmas, this fits in very well with that range.

As a grandfather, I personally don't think this is a brilliant toy. Not that easy to set up and a little too complex for young children. It doesn't really do enough to keep the children's interest either.As with most children, ours were given a lot of toys at Christmas and this was not one of the best. You can evaluate a toy's success or otherwise by the amount of time the children play with each item. Personally, I think there are other toys in the Playmobil range that would be a better purchase.

As I am 63, I have not played with it! No one who is old enough to order from Amazon would play with it. The recipient seeemed pleased with it, but then any well brought up child would admire their present.

This is definitely one of the best toys I have bought for my 3 year old grandson. He has had hours of fun and has played with it virtually every weekend for over a year - excellent value.
