NOT if you have deer around! (BUT, read my review!)
If you have deer around, forget this one. Drained in one night by deer. Guess they can get their tongue into the feeder. Feeder hanging next to it is the type that covers the holes with any pressure and that one tends to keep them out. Otherwise seems to be a good value. Can't speak to squirrels as the deer did it in overnight.UPDATE: merchant customer service was OUTSTANDING - they saw my review and offered (without being asked and with no caveats) a full refund. They deserve the star rating change I gave them. Well done!

Great Nyer Seed Feeder
I was hesitant as the pictures showed the feed openings to be quite small. I was worried they would be too small and the birds wouldn't eat from it.I was worried about nothing! I have a surplus of gold Finches and they can't get enough of nyer seed. They can absolutely access the seed with ease. The small openings reduce waste and potential for seed to get wet.Highly recommend.

Affordable and effective bird feeder
Overall, a good feeder. It's easy to fill and looks nice. When full of seeds, I get 6 birds on the feeder at the same time. I am unsure of the squirrel protection. Got my first squirrel once I got this feeder (after 15+ years of living here). It is a ground squirrel and so far, has not climbed the tree to get to the feeder as there are plenty of seeds that fall to the ground. Beware of these cute fuzzy creatures - mine has killed and eaten a bird! (look up carnivorous squirrels if you're interested)I have two complaints. The first is that the underside of the top lid and the base have rust. I live in the coastal desert but it has rained the past few days. Considering I've only had this for a few weeks, I was a bit shocked to see the rust. The openings/perches are still in perfect condition. The second complaint is that seed debris falls between the clear plastic cylinder and the base. I can't remove the base to get these out. I'm afraid to clean with water as this might create the perfect conditions for mold growth. It is a very affordable feeder and served my purpose to figure out whether feeding birds was worthwhile. It is!BTW, it took about 2-3 weeks for the birds to start using, even though I placed close to a bird bath that gets a lot of use. Now I get a variety of birds throughout the day and need to fill it every day. I fill with black oil sunflower seeds as I read this was the most nutritious food and usually does not attract mice, which like the grains (read bird seed ingredients carefully).

Just a fun bird feeder to try.
This is one of several bird feeders I started out with. I use Nyjer seed in it and the birds get at it just fine. It is my busiest bird feeder out of the 6 that I have. I sometimes have as many as 6 finches at a time on this bird feeder. It is light so you don't need to worry about it pulling the shepherds hook over if that's what your using. I had a problem with starlings coming but they cannot get at the birdseed with this, so no worries attracting large birds. The birdseed in it stays dry because of the design. Won't mold from wet birdseed.

Top must be removed to refill not just flipped to the side.
Item arrived on time and well packaged. Only complaint I have is that the top must be taken off to refill instead ofjust being flipped to the side for refilling, otherwise no complaints works just fine and holds a good amount of seed.

Nice bird feeder
Nice feeder. I have so many birds I cannot seem to keep it full. With that in mind, the feeder is holding up we'll to the constant bird traffic as well as those pesky squirrels. I will be ordering a couple more of these. Recommended!

top of feeder
This bird feeder has a top that unscrews for filling the bird feeder which, at least for me, unscrews and falls to the ground which could be due to the winds we get. I do make it a point to tighten the top but...Annoying.

Don't buy the 16 port.
The birds land on the perches but it looks like they can't find the holes. There are no markings around the tiny holes. There are two holes right above each perch. It's been a month. The food level has not lowered. The feeder itself is well made. Tough plastic tube. Easy to fill. The lesser port holes have the metal ports not just holes. 10 days later. I bought the copper 6 port that has portals and filled with exactly the same nyjer/thistle. The gold and house finches have flocked to this one. 5 stars on the 6 portal one. One month later. I drew a black circle with a magic marker around and around the holes on the 16 port holes feeder. Put same food in it. Finches flocked to it now. 4 stars for the 16 port with a small change to it. The 6 port bought after is excellent.
