Large Hook is REALLY Large
The first thing to know about this fall protection device is that the large hook version is really large. Significantly bigger than an adult male hand as indicated in the photographs below. For argues the larger hook was preferred because he gave more options as to the sorts of anchor point it could be used with. On the other hand it may be too large for certain applications in which case the small hook version is probably your better choice. The safety strap seems adequately robust and there is a shock absorber to help relieve strain in the event of a fall. The strap does indeed extend close to 6 feet if pulled slowly. But much like a self tightening seat belt device, if pulled quickly it locks immediately. In a casual test by just pulling on the hook quickly the device locks with about 10 inches or less of strap extended. If the device is ositioned correctly with the right harness, losing one's balance might be enough to trigger the device thus preventing a fall not just arresting a fall in progress.Of course this is just the clip offline and includes a screw on link to attach to a body harness which is not included.Overall, looks like a very solid and useful piece.Note that the weight rating as listed on the Amazon listing as 130 to 310 lbs. We have not tested it with a person in harness, nor a person lighter than than the weight rating. However I do know that simply grabbing it and pulling sharply with hands causes it to lock quickly. Also note that the large hook is locked when it is around something, and requires one to squeeze in two places in two directions in order to open it. (Easy to do with one hand. Clearly this will greatly reduce the likelihood of it accidentally opening, but might not prevent it entirely. The hook needs to be placed so that there might not be accidental pressure on the release mechanism on one side, thus reducing the safety feature.

Feels Quality Made
TLDR: The materials and build are solid, and give piece of mind.Got this to help with getting the gutters fixed on our 2 story fixer upper house, and used it for so much more already! I'm not too fond of heights, but this (along with ladder stabilizers) has made them a little more doable when I need to handle things up high on or around our house. Most importantly: the hooks are sturdy and the locking mechanism works quickly! I slipped slightly on the roof (not enough to fall thankfully), and this thing locked up as needed and held me (270lbs) in place while I got my footing. Thankful to not have to try out the shock absorber thread they have, and super happy to know that it easily supported my weight.

Safer Freedom of Movement When Working at Heights
I live in a two story house under large 100+ year old oak trees, and I either have to go up on the roof to clean off leaves and limb debris, as well as clean the gutters, or I have to hire a handyman to do it for me. Up until now I have had to use a makeshift system of ropes for protection against falls. While this adds a level of safety, it still left a lot of room for error and it both added extra work and it reduced my freedom of movement while working. With this DIJIG system I will only need two or three strong attach points to gain freedom of movement over the entire roof, and it will make the job a lot safer. I have been prone to do the work myself, even though I am no longer steady on my feet, because I did not want to risk someone else getting hurt from falling off of my roof. Now I will be a lot more comfortable allowing someone younger, and healthier, to do that job for me.This entire unit is strong, and after testing the brake several times, I'm convinced that this system is going to do a great job, when combined with a good harness, of keeping me safe when working off the ground.

Excited for winter now
Now I am excited to use this in the winter coming here as the roofs are already steep and slippery enough in the summer as is, let alone add ice, snow and water to that and your not staying. Ready to use this bad boy so my first winter on the roofs won't end in the hospital.

Strong Hooks and Good Instructions
We do some of our own tree-trimming and higher up window cleaning and decided this fall protective device by DIJJIG could be a wise investment. The device arrived very quickly and it was packaged securely. The hook hardware (the 0 shaped hook and the spring hook) are made of alloy and are very well constructed. The retractable lanyard works smoothly. Cannot really test it fully, but even if it does need to be used (deployed) the two hooks would still be useful. The provided instructions were clear for how it should be used.

Good lanyard
I've been using a rope based fall arrest system for many years, and while it works well, it can be inconvenient at times when moving around. I thought I would give this a try to see if it would make things easier. Excellent choice. This lanyard is well made out of good quality materials. Fit and finish are excellent. Large hook is easy to use. Enough tension to be useful, but not so much as to be a pain. Highly recommend. 5 stars.
